Nac-N 272 swith to mute by itself

Posted by: Benoit R on 13 March 2016

I just got a used NAC-N 272, replacing a 202 + napsc and a Linn Ikemi CD. WOW!

But I do have an issue, I am seeking advice from someone who experienced a similar problem.

After two day of being in place I started to experience problem, the unit is switching by itself on “mute”, if I unmute, it mute’s again. Once it starts, it appends on every input. Only work around I found is switching the device off over night (one or two hours won’t do it)

I saw some treads reporting similar issue, but did not get the solution.

Hi Benoit - yes my 272 did that on an occasional basis, rang Naim and was told a faulty logo was most likely to blame and it should go back to dealer for repair. However I was also told that sometimes the logo gets stuck halfway between mute and unmute and this makes it prone to independently go into mute, the solution, which has worked so far is to press the logo firmly into mute and then out again with the hope that it sits correctly thereafter.

Hope this helps

Many Thanks,

I am not shure I understand the reference to a "logo". Could you please help me and discribe?

Benoit - JR has provided the graphics but just to confirm we are talking about the Olive Naim logo located on the front of the 272. You can mute by pressing it and unmute by pressing again.

Could you have accidentally muted it by pressing on the logo ?

Thanks to all, very help full.

I think it is a faulty logo issu, I have to press real hard (with no sens of any switch feedback) to mute or unmute the device. This does not feel right. I will take to repair.

There is no sense of switch feedback because it is a touch sensitive switch.  I just tried it on my 272. You touch the logo lightly and briefly. The display should say "muted". If you touch it lightly and briefly again, the display says "unmuted". The touch is the same as if you were touching the screen of a smart phone or tablet.
