nap 300 Dr problem
Posted by: imaginator on 18 March 2016
Hi All
I've just received a new nap 300 Dr for a week demo to match with my Nac 282 + Hi_CAP DR to replace my Nap 250-2.
I connected the cables according to specifications on manual but no sound appears. I checked again and again the connection but nothing happens.
I can hear a very weak sound just if I turn the knob of volume to max and I put my ear very near of the loudspeaker.
If you connect the nap 300 to a no naim pre with a balanced cable it works. So i presume the problem is in other place..
If I connect the nap 250 all it's work...
Can anybody help me?
Thank you
I expect you have connected the din to xlr leads the wrong way round.

+1
Thank you
I think i've used this configuration:
Have another look.
I had a similar problem with 500, and found that the burndy leads were connected wrong, as they are specifically handed for left and right connection
The Nap 300 has gone to my dealer for a check. Tomorrow I will take it back and have another look. But..Sorry.. I am not sure what I must pay attention: The right output DIN (4 pins) of HICAP to right channel XRL and left XRL to left DIN (4 pins)?
Do you mean if I invert the Din plugs of the leads one to each other it doesn't work?
Keep the din connections as they are on the hi-cap and swap the connections (XLR end) at the 300. Swap red to green and green to red on your diagram.

Really ? - i didn't think the Burndy cables were handed. They have a directional marker on them but both cables are the same. They were on my 300.

I put the marks of the burndy lead- in the amplifier direction. I think this is right...
Check the DIN-XLR cables. Make sure you have CH1 (left) with the green band and CH2 (right) with the red band.

Have you ever tried a better pre than 282 ?
Regards
Roberto
Hello guys
everything works fine now .
I'm really happy
The music flows easier than before and all the sound parameters are better now.
My loudspeakers Totem Forest are not difficult to drive, but now they are flying !
Thank you for your precious help.

Hi Imaginator,
I'm Italian too, i asked about the preamp since now with 300DR a 252 would be a better match in theory.

Roberto
I think many owners get confused with the red to right and green to left instruction as this refers to looking at the back panel of the amp, so as you look at it from the front the red banded lead is going to the left hand side and the green one to the right.

Yes, it created confusion for me.
