Roon Support

Posted by: MontyMusic on 22 March 2016

Hi all. Do we know if integrated support for Roon is coming? I asked for Tidal and you gave it, but now I've discovered Roon it's a deal breaker.

If Roon comes to the Naim range, I will be investing in an NDX, a Muso for the office and an all-in one for the kitchen.

Thanks

What does Roon do for you MONTYMUSIC. Hearing good things haven't demo yet but what does it give that makes it work well for you?

Hi, the interface simply works. No bugs, glitches or anything. Roon also is great to use and the extra detail around artist detail and suggested artists is incredible. The software discovers music on a NAS, sorts it without moving it and integrates seamlessly with Tidal. I'm listening to music I forgot I had (2TB worth of rips) and discovering more on Tidal.

I signed up to the 14 day trial and never looked back. Even the wife can use it

I would love this too, currently using Mac mini headless with Roon through the V1 and its UI is really well thought out, I am looking at the Superuniti but, I would miss Roon.

Roon is an absolute pleasure to use.

Must try it out, and it doesn't need installing on your NAS, or can it run on a NAS similar to MinimServer? I'm not too fussed about having Laptop in the mix, plus I don't have a decent USB cable. Or does it run on OS X Laptop via Ethernet.

Oh I'll download the demo and try it out :-)

i point Roon to my NAS library that then serves the main computer, which is linked to my DAC. I use another Mac or iPad to control whats played. If I had more than one system, then the controller can choose the output.

Roon will currently play to the Muso through AirPlay ( although it's best to wait for the upcoming 1.2 version as there is a specific Muso/ AirPlay bug fix in it).

it really has to be trialled, it's very hard to do it justice by describing it

+1 for Roon support.  I'm discovering music in my library I'd almost forgotten about and the interface is the best I've seen.  A big advantage for classical music is the automatic grouping of tracks into works e.g. symphonies, concertos, etc.  It's not perfect yet, but the rate of development since the launch date has been phenomenal.

Love roon,  hope that Aurender will support it. As Sloop  John says: you must try it!
