Several issues with Naim app and new NAC272

Posted by: jp1001 on 22 March 2016

Hello together, I created a DLNA-Server in JRiver MC and access the files on my computer via the Naim App. However, it is not possible to fast forward the tracks. What can I do to use this feature or is it not possible in general? Furthermore I have several high res FLACs (on a connected NAS) which are not possible to play over the naim app. Message 'Error, track skipped'. But it is possible to access these file directly from the streamer via remote control. The files are playing, but are shown as a WAV with a wrong bitrate. Any ideas why? Thanks in advance for the help, J

About the fast forward with JRiver MC. The server just doesn't support that function. I battled with this problem few weeks ago and this was my conclusion. No matter what I did it didn't work but with Asset UPNP and Minimserver, fast forward/rewind worked perfectly.

It may be an idea to load Mininserver on the nas to see whether it's a server issue, which I suspect it is.

Halibut is right. I had the same problem with synology default DLNA server and I changed to minimserver and problem solved.

Thanks for the support!

Installed minimserver on the NAS and everything is fine. Fast Forwarding works now with most of the files but not as far as I can see not for M4a with AAC codec and not for mp3s. If there's no solution I will try to convert the files.

I think I read somewhere on this forum that the issue with mp3 files relates to the fact that mp3 uses a variable bitrate unlike lossless formats making it difficult to pinpoint the elapsed time.

Correct and confirmed, MP3 FF is not possible from Naim by design. Sorry.
