Hi all,
Tried to connect my Headline to my NAC202, but not having any success. Tried sockets 3, 4 and 5 on the rear, but not getting any sound through it at all. The source is playing through the speakers okay...
I had my NAPSC connected to upgrade socket 1, and Hicap on upgrade socket 2. I disconnected the NAPSC and fitted the blank plug. Then connected this to my Headline and the DIN to sockets 3, 4 and 5 to no avail. What am I doing wrong?
It was working with my olive setup just a couple of weeks ago...

Directly from the mains, as I had it connected before. I feel like there is something I have not done with the 202 to select the right control for the Headline, but maybe not.

Is the Tape output on the NAC202 muted? You should try un-muting the tape out or resetting the NAC.
From the manual:
13.2 Record Mute
In order to minimise power consumption and improve sound quality the NAC 202 record output circuit can be muted. To engage or disengage record mute press the front panel mon button followed by the front panel mute button. The mute button indicator will illuminate when record mute is engaged and extinguish when it is disengaged. Record mute can also be engaged and disengaged from the remote handset using the mon and mute keys.

Hi Richard,
I have tried muting and unmuting, nothing happens other than muting the speakers. Okay, I will try resetting the 202 this evening, I assume there is a section in the manual describing the operation.
Thanks

Muting the record circuits is different to muting the listening circuits. If your NAC202 is second-hand then it's likely the previous owner muted the record circuits for best possible sound. Just follow the instructions I have reprinted from the manual. Failing that, reset to defaults.

Hi Richard,
I understand, but didn't realise this was possible, so thanks very much for that. I would think that this is a highly likely scenario, and I will try it when I get home this evening.
Thanks very much,
Mike

Haha,
Oh right, I will try as you suggest and persevere... I had a hunch it's an electrical/switching issue as it was so completely silent. It's a 2010 model, lightly used. Many thanks and I will report back once I hopefully have it up and running.
Kind regards
Mike

Hi Richard,
You're a clever bloke, thanks very much. Although it does say so in the manual, I'm not totally au fait with the terminology, so it's great to have this resource for issues like this. All is working and sounding wonderful. I even have remote control now, wow!!
Thanks again to all,
Mike
