Some Cheap Upgrades ...

Posted by: MangoMonkey on 30 March 2016

Been a while since I posted - recent changes warrant a quick post.

Two small upgrades -

a) A local Seattle company makes good cables for general use. Blue Jeans cables. Bought several  Cat 6a spec cables. These seem to work as good or better than expensive AudioQuest Vodka and Chord Silverstream cables. Can't do much about the cables in the walls, but have converted all exposed wiring using these cables.

b) Tripp-Lite -ISOBAR6ULTRA They make great surge protectors for general use. EMI/RFI filtering to 60db caught my attention. While I can't vouch for their use (yet) on Naim gear, they seem to work great at isolating noise from other equipment in my house, resulting in the Naim gear sounding better. Using one for my PC/Monitors/Rega WallWarts, another on the NAS/UnitiServe/Switch and another on Ethernet Router/Airport Extreme. At $40 each not exactly cheap, but worth a punt in the context of $$ spent on Naim gear.
