N Sats

Hi

Can anybody tell me is there an easy way to tell what bass and treble units the N-Sats use, and are they used in any other of the Naim  loudspeakers

Thanks

Eddie

I think that the Sats' tweeter is the same as (or very similar to) the one used in the Arivas. I think I saw it in some model by Sonus Faber too. As for the woofer, I could not say.

Eddie, I can't. Why do you ask?

Eddie, I believe that the n-Sat mid/bass unit was built by Vifa to Naim's own spec - I seem to recall the magnet assembly being much more powerful than standard.

I've just pulled the grille off one of mine & the mid/bass driver doesn't resemble the unit from any of Naim's other speakers.

It looks very similar to the mid unit in the Ariva,   round chassis cage,  6 point fixing & the Ariva is made by Vifa

n-Sat woofer looks the same as those in n-Cent.

The Ariva's used a ring-radiator tweeter from Vifa. AFAIK, the tweeter in the N Sats was identical.

Thanks all for your thoughts. The reason I ask is that I have a faulty N Sat speaker and was wondering if the units from the Arriva's are the same. For obvious reasons they would have to be identical. Wouldn't wont to spend money and find out they don't fit.

Again would be grateful for your thoughts

Have you emailed Naim to see if they have spares?......

Eddie, in that case I would definitely do as Chris suggests and first contact your dealer/Naim and enquire after spares.

By the way, just because a drive unit may look the same and may fit, does not mean it's identical.  Drive units that look all but identical on the outside can have very different coils and motor units with differing impedance depending on their application and frequency band that they have to cover.
