Naim Forum is very good

I was a member of Lansing Heritage Forum for people (like me) who love JBL speakers. However I quit because the lunatics (or disciples) their would go ballistic if anyone would find fault with the company. Rude, vitriolic and arrogant really are the norm there and yet very few members actually still buy new JBL speakers to ensure quality remains. I have been so staggered I wanted to express my delight at how this Naim Forum expresses itself, albeit with a few "passionate" people. Enjoying a modern way to communicate with people around the world about our hobby is very cool, but when people hide behind their keyboards and spew bile (usually fools who would normally get their arses kicked) the whole premise and vibe is destroyed. Having a different opinion is normal, making it seem like it is vital for human survival is not. Well done Naim, Richard Dane and everyone who has made the Naim experience a great one. I admit my first posts were in frustration at not understanding modern hifi nor the extra P/S options, but with kind guidance I now feel competent thanks to members here who understand Naim well.

Thanks Steve.  I'm pleased to hear that you're enjoying the forum. Naim takes both praise and criticism with equal grace, and hopefully this is something that is reflected in the forum membership.

Good to have another JBL fan here (I still lust after a nice pair of 4343s - I make do with a pair of L110s and a pair of 4311s that were from Martin Birch's studio).  While the focus is, of course, on Naim, we're very happy to discuss other brands both old and new on here.

This is a community with a Naim focus but not a Naim obsession. It means that opinions can be freely expressed. Reflects a degree of confidence by Naim I think. Light touch moderation is also a key element of the its success.

What interests me is how the company uses the Forum beyond being good PR. Does it use it as a source of feedback or to float new ideas etc? I have wondered if the odd troll is actually a company stooge poking the hornets nest!

Bruce - no trolls here please!  And certainly never from Naim - the Naim forum is a safe space for members, whether Naim owners or not, to come and chat and discuss Naim or whatever.  Naim doesn't do "stooges" or "trolls" of any sort on any forum.  Naim respect their customers, their partners and even their competition.  It's a trust thing...

Ok, I take it back.

Do you think they get useful information from the threads and opinions? Or are they happy to host it but not entirely bothered what goes on within (like a teenagers bedroom).

As to how useful any information gleaned from the forum might be to Naim, I don't honestly know.  Naim ownership is a broad church and the forum only encompasses a small (albeit fairly significant) part of that.  But, speaking for myself, I'm sure most everyone at Naim takes an active interest in what is said on here - they are, after all, music lovers and hifi buffs just like everyone else on here!

very useful, we read it, take it in and discuss, one of the best things we have done bringing a global community together.

Naim uses Turkish "proxies" for this purpose, but they never know who their Naim "handlers" are.  Naim of course, will deny all involvement...every now and then one is found strangled with a Powerline or SNAIC4.
