Itunes XLD clash ?

Dear Forum

I effectively run 2 libraries, HD tracks and CDs ripped on my HDX or on the macbook pro form the bulk of my quality listening via a NAS in the house.  Previous to HIFI streaming i used my Itunes into airport express into my system and have a large library on itunes that i use for mobile listening - mainly in the car.  A few months back i noticed itunes could no longer access the Gracenotes library and retrieve album data.  When pushed to do so i get a No Error window.  I wondered at the time if it was the upgrade to yosemite and thought it might get patched up soon.  This hasn't happened and its getting quite irritating.  I wonder if i am unfairly laying the blame at Yosemite's door.  I started using XLD to do some rips on some tricky discs around the same time and this might be hijacking Gracenotes.  Has anyone else stumbled into this problem?  Am i missing anything completely obvious?  I would like to have my Itunes ripping back to its flawless ways as this was a big part of its appeal to me.  Many thanks in advance for your shared to wisdom.

No, XLD does not hijack iTunes, unless you have XLD configured to run when inserting a disc, or have a disk inserted while you are running both iTunes and XLD. Close XLD and retry in iTunes

sadly that has no affect.  Itunes simply wont gather the data.  ive ruled out the firewall.  researched online - seems im not the only one with the problem but it mainly affects pc users and library files clashing so not applicable to me. Was hoping some clever bods here had encountered it and overcome it.
