Which socket ?

Thinking about getting a proper mains situation installed. But amongst many Qs that can be seen through from reading forum, I'm interested about the point of contact.

putting in an audiophile double wall plate a while ago to replace some old domestic ones, the main supply went in behind the right socket with a jumper to the left. Is this jumper a thing against quality?     As I get different results at present by having source into right socket and amp into left and visa versa.

if putting in a proper mains job does it make more sense to having it connected to a single unswitched wall socket rather than a double one - with a decent distribution device ?

If your stereo has only two plugs, an unswitched double MK socket is all you need.

Thank you for reply , how do you have yours ? With MK Socket how does the main supply go into both ?

I'm not sure, the wires just go into the back. There's nothing complicated going on.

Double sockets still only have 3 terminals at the back for L, N, E. And bus bars or whatever they are called joining the L, N, E for each of the 2 front sockets. MK and crabtree are both well made.

it will look something like this, this one appears to be on a ring main, hence 2 wires for each L, N, E.

Crabtree used to be well made, probably the best in their day.  But the brand was sold years ago & they are now made overseas & are just a bit ordinary these days.

I'm using a silver MCRU wall socket that does Indeed have only one connection for the main supply cable, but am still confused that plug order for my system varies so much.

put simply with amp connected to the right socket and source in the left - there is a sense of a blanket put over the sound.

With source in right socket and amp in left socket - there is a sense the blanket has been removed , much better focus ,weight and colour.

confused that I should get a difference here.
