Asset for OSX, QNAP, Linux and Raspberry Pi now has DSD compatability.

Just in case you're not aware, Asset for OSX, QNAP, Linux and Raspberry Pi now has DSD compatability.

The R5 version is still in beta but so far it's working perfectly for me on a QNAP NAS.

Any indication when we might see the official release of R5 for QNAP NAS drives? I have Asset R5 installed on my PC but run minimserver on my QNAP specifically because Asset 4.7 (current version for QNAP) does not support DSD.

Thank you Flummoxed for pointing me to the beta for Raspberry Pi: Installed Asset 5 beta 1  a couple of hours ago - DSD working well so far...

Thanks for spotting this.

Install on my QNAP TS-453 pro and all seems well.

Really quick at indexing the music.  Almost 20000 tracks (1537 albums) indexed in under 10 minutes.

Finally!!!

thanks for spotting and letting us know, I've been keeping a eye on the asset website but not checked for a couple of weeks.

Just installed R5 beta for Qnap - strangely I can only see 18 of my albums (I have 600+ on the NAS) from within the naim app. They are a mixture of "resolutions," genres, artists etc. Appears completely random.

I've restarted asset - rescanned files and re started the NAS - still only the same 18 albums are visible in the naim app.

Anyone else experienced the same??

Configuring the beta version is a bit of a PITA as the browse tree reverts to its default settings (seemingly every possible combination of categories). It's best to tackle the browse tree first since otherwise you lose any changes you've make to the general config screen (e.g. Folder locations and transcode options etc.) after changing the browse tree.

Somewhat off topic here but I have recently purchased a Unitqute. Having lurked here for a while and read the reviews I added Asset to my Linux box (Ubuntu server 15, core i5 cpu with 8Gb of ram) I noticed that Asset seems to be a bit of a memory hog. Prior to the last reboot it was using 95% of the available ram. System performance was as far as I can tell unaffected, but it did seem a bit odd. The server has now been up for just over 12hrs and current ram usage is 11% If the problem persists I will probably add a cron to shut the server down overnight and have the bios reboot it, however I thought I would mention it in case anyone else has experienced the issue.

Running the beta R5 on QNAP TS451 and R4.7 on my QNAP TS421. The beta release has an issue with artwork i.e. some of the same albums which show artwork on my backup TS421 don't show artwork on the Naim app when using the beta R5 to stream from my TS451. Looking in File Explorer at Asset TS451 in the This PC/My Network section, many of the folders and individual files do not show the artwork icons whereas they do show on both the TS421 and on the Minimserver TS451 folders.

Have you tried clearing the UPNP and image caches from within the Naim app.

I had some odd results following the upgrade and clearing the caches resolved it for me.

Hi TD. Yes I've tried clearing both caches but it's made no difference and I didn't expect it to as the same artwork is missing when viewing the server's interface via File Explorer on my PC.

It might be worth posting the issue on the Asset forum, Mr Spoon normally replies very quickly.

I'm using a TS-453 Pro and not having these issues. I assume you have done a full scan on the server?

Hi TD. Yes, I've tried reconfiguring R5 a few times and each time it rescans the library. However,  I have noticed that I've had to click on the "Rescan" link on Asset's main page before it actually starts to show the number of tracks scanned.

As suggested, I've posted about my issue in the Test Upcoming Releases section of the dBpoweramp/Asset forum.

I too have discovered this with the latest asset beta. I have found that art contained within the media file itself displays, art derived from Folder.jpg and possibly from an earlier version of DBPoweramp does not display.
