Power strip with naim gear

Posted by: Naimark on 21 April 2016

Hello everyone,

I have an economical power strip to change with a more quality model.

I would like to spend 2-300€ at maximum.

The new power strip will be used to link xps2, sc2, 250.2 and turntable, but I prefer to buy a 6-8 sockets model.

Thanks in advance for your support.

BR,

Mark

The only one you need is: WireWorld Matrix 2: 6 sockets, star-wired, no filters. Retail price around Eur 120 or so.

works brilliantly - use it both of my systems.

If you only need 3 sockets now, what are the other 3 or 5 for? Better to spend the cash on an additional mains circuit if you can, and use that exclusively for your power hungry HiFi kit, keeping any other devices on your existing circuit.

Wireworld Matrix 2 does the job for me.

That is exactly the ones I use - in both systems. Connected the strip to the wall socket using NAIM's standard cable that came in a box. Connections from Matrix 2 to NAIM - PowerLines.

Whoooo  !!!!!    a PowerLine upgrade opportunity

Good idea there will be a PowerLine coming with the 555PS (placed an order yesterday). Since I'm power-lined everywhere, might as well use it there...

Another recommendation for Wireworld Matrix V2. I live in Finland and use the EU version, it works great. I've previously used MusicLine power strip (second best this far) and Furutech E-TP60 (around three times the price of Matrix) which didn't work at all with Naim.

MusicLine I used for years and it works quite well but Matrix brought clearly blacker background with cleaner sound  but it didn't kill the Naim magic from the sound. This is what happened with Furutech which did sound cleaner and with better grip also but it also made the sound edgy and fatiguing, killing the Naim groove. Too bright sound! I can't recommend it at all.

With Matrix I've tried several different power cables going from the strip to the wall and they do make clear difference. From strip to equipment I use the regular Naim cables. The best and most balanced sound I've had has been with the regular Naim cable from strip to wall. Even Naim PowerLine made the sound worse in my system. PowerLine has always brought more power in the low end but the sound gets unbalanced while the focus is too much in the bottom end. It makes the sound easier to listen to but takes away little from high end IMO. The experience has always been the same to me.

+ yet another for the Wireworld Matrix 2. I have one for my black boxes and one for my network devices. The Matrix 2 easily beat the Grahams Hydra I used to use on SQ grounds.

& another +1 for Matrix here

Same here, using wireworld matrix 2. However i 'powerline'd the strip by using the powerline between wall socket and power strip and then normal naim lines to the component. There is more to explore in the order of components connected to the strip... enjoy..

Thinking of getting one but rather than Powerline does anyone recommend any particular version of the Matrix mains connector cables. Prices seem to rise from the basic Stratus at £70  to rather mind boggling amounts. Their HDMI cables makes Super Lumina seem cheap! There is another one, the Aurora at £140, anyone have experience of this?

How so? Matrix 2 is start-wired. So technically speaking there should be no difference in how components arenconnected.

Do you have a different experience?

Like the Irish revenue collector, I too would like to know which mains lead to connect from the wall to the strip. Is Wireworld's Stratus good? It's obvious like all things cable related that you can spend any amount of money, but I'm just looking for a reasonable upgrade for reasonable money.....what do others use? Think I would need 1.5 to 2m cable length

Where can I purchase wireworld matrix 2 online (european model)?

Just try the standard Naim cable that came in your box. You will not be disapointed.

I'm looking for an advice for online shop of course

You need to look for specialist retailers, that are WireWorld authorised distributors.

What country are you in?

Posted on: 23 April 2016 by Naimark

Italy

All my standard Naim cables are plugged onto their respective boxes.....presumably buying an additional one is the way to go? Has anyone any experience of the matching Wireworld's jobs?

and Naimark.....Futureshop looks the place to buy...
