Power supply for NAC62/NAP180?

Posted by: CletePurcel on 25 April 2016

I recently acquired a NAC62 and NAP82. I have been told that an external power supply will improve the sound even more. I am looking on the used market.

I am new to Naim so I want to know what my options here are. I believe a Hicap would be best, but what about Flatcaps which seem to be somewhat cheaper. Would a Flatcap be just as good?

The rest of my system is a Rega RP6 with Exact cartridge (soon to be upgraded to MC) and Dali Zensor 1s, but I am getting some Royd Edens tomorrow.

Thanks for your time.

Hicap is better than flatcap

Thanks. That's what I thought. Just wanted to make sure.

Make sure that it has been recapped in the last few years, and that it was a proper Naim approved job.

The older Hicaps seem to have different sockets (they are white). My system has the black sockets. Does this matter?

So long as you get an olive Hicap, it will be fine. Just ensure it has been recapped.
