Deezer/NDX 5s

Can I stream my Deezer lossless files to the ND5XS without buying extra interface hardware, or will I still have to add a Sonos Connect or the like?
Sorry for the multiple posts - I see Qobuz has streaming AND downloads...
Just discovered Deezer app on Squeezebox Touch! Will it work in US, same as Sonos and B&O?
Mike1951 posted:So now I'm thinking of using Deezer on my mobile just to investigate new albums I haven't heard before and if I want to keep, buying lossless/FLAC files to download to my laptop and stream them to my ND5XS using Window Player on my laptop. Is that technically feasable? I really want to avoid having to add a Sonos Connect. I guess I could buy from Qobuz? Load them on to my Windows Player?
Not sure if the windows player software you're using works as a server, but roughly speaking, yes it's feasible. Typically, rather than using a player to push music to the ND5, one would use a server programme and use the ND5 to pull the music from the server.
Those aren't the technical terms, but to me, thinking of it in terms of pushing and pulling makes intuitive sense.
The usual scenario is using a NAS rather than a laptop to store music. If you do want to use your laptop, I'm sure there'll be some decent (free/cheap) server software someone can recommend. But the general idea of using a streaming service to check out new music and then buying the stuff you like is how a lot of people do it. I'm not currently subscribed to a streaming service, but when I was, I found plenty of music on Spotify or Tidal which I then bought from e.g. Qobuz or picked up a cheap CD and ripped it.
I'm using Deezer Elite (FLAC) in my main system on a Sonos Connect, and on my desktop setup via USB with a Mac and NAD D3020.
Assuming your computer has an optical out, you could install the Deezer client on your computer and hook it up via a Toslink cable to enjoy Deezer Elite. Not perfect but would get the job done.
Tidal HiFi sounds as good as any other 44.1khz FLAC file on your phone if you download it (offline use). There is no difference with a self ripped FLAC file from CD on your phone. You just have to make sure you download hifi files instead of the standard, which is MP3.
Keep in mind this "half price" deal that Deezer Elite has is only good for the first 12 months. Then the price is the same as Tidal.
That being said, I like Deezer Elite a touch more but would be happy living with either.
Mostlu because it's a secondary source of listening for me; vinyl and CD rips being primary.
Busy ripping my CD's and downloading them on to my laptop for Windows Player. I'll be going to Qobuz for mobile listening and subsequent purchase of files. Really looking forward to installing the ND5XS as soon as my local audio shop have acquired it for me, having sold on my CDX and XPS... Phew. Glad I got all that sorted.
