Sportify Sync Across Multiple Devices

Posted by: Mostly Drummer on 15 May 2016

I stream music in various parts of my house via the same network, which has one hard drive and an NDS, an ND5-XS, and a NAC 272 connected to play music in different (nearly) stand-alone systems or through the whole house system. I sometimes use Spotify and/or Tidal to listen to music before I buy it (so I tend to have a running "to do" list of songs/albums to sample in "Your Music" as opposed to specific playlists, which I've never made). I am set up to control the streamers with multiple iPads, but I recently started controlling Spotify via my laptop because I'm already working on it and I don't want to pick up the other device.  When I make changes to the list of songs in "Your Music" on my laptop, the list doesn't update on the iPad Spotify app even though it correctly identifies the song that is playing that was launched from the laptop version and both the laptop and the iPad are configured to Spotify Connect and show the streamer that is playing as the selected device.

Does anyone know how to make the devices synch this list? Since they're both logged into the same account and show the same song as playing, I don't understand why this isn't automatic. I've tried closing the app on the iPad, logging out entirely, etc. and nothing changes.

As always, thank you!

This gets weirder. I just went into the Spotify settings on my laptop because I noticed that the streaming sound wasn't very good (even for Spotify), and I observed that the premium sound switch had been turned off (must have been a glitch because I would never have done that). I turned it on, and suddenly not only did the sound get much better but the iPad suddenly synched from changes I had made on the laptop and when I made changes on the iPad they synched back to the laptop as well. I don't understand this, but I'm glad it's working!

Any observation are still welcome!
