Album art problem in n-stream
Posted by: Augusto Giusti on 22 June 2011
Anyone having problems with album art in the n-stream app? My app just doesn't show any art but the UPnP software logo instead.
Any ideas?
Thanks, Augusto
If you use a controller with a wired connection as opposed to wifi does it display?
What uPnP server software are you using?
Simon
how big is the image?
copy the image to "folder.jpg" and delete the embedded art. see if that works. it should rescale as needed.
Playback (like EyeConnect) does not provide album artwork over UPNP.
If you want artwork using a UPNP server on a Mac, download and use Majestic.
Hi,
I have tried both Eyeconnect and Majestic, and still no cover art are presented on the n-stream app on my iPad... I am using a unitiqute, have all my music (a lot) on a iMac (Mp3/Apple loseless), wired connection.
All cover art is presented correct on the Mac.
I am started to get frustrated - any easy way out of this problem ?
regards,
Nils
Use a PC?
I know that music purchased via the iStore does have the artwork embedded and this displays perfectly using Playback to a Qute with n-Stream.
Nils......you can't stream ALAC to a Qute without transcoding, maybe the transcoding is affecting the artwork, the MP3 should work if the artwork is embedded.
You need to embed the artwork into the files, then Majestic will provide these to nStream.
You can do this by dragging and dropping or cutting and pasting an image into the now playing image in iTunes.
Alternatively, and if you have a lot of these, there are various apps and scripts than can embed the iTunes art into the files. CoverScout works well for me and was discounted in the Mac App Store last I saw.

it is not the nStream app's fault. Try a different UPNP server.
Apparently there are none for Mac OS that work well. Do you have a spare PC laying around??? you can build one up or buy one online for pennies. Jam it in the closet and you will have ALLLLLLLLL the album art you want.

Stop foaming at the mouth Tog. I didn't mention windows.
Can you run J River on Vortebox? If so im in.......
Oh, and yes, sure hate on Win7. I personally use XP.
I have actually only used Windows 7 once and that was to do EXACTLY what I do on EVERY other computer. Open Foobar, scroll down to an artist, pick an album, and press play. It seemed to work??
Sorry but Windows is the only OS that does everything I need. If any other did what I needed I would check it out.
Get over the OS bashing Tog. It is tired and boring. WE GET IT. YOU HATE WINDOWS. Like a petulant little school girl.... Yippeeeee.
I often am accused of bashing on Apple (not true, I LOVE their hardware and iOS), and Mac's (also not true, their computers are sexy and well built). I simply cannot use them as they dont/cant support the things I want to run on a computer for audio.
It isn't my fault that I iTunes is my best option and there is no FLAC support, UPNP is nearly impossible, iTunes bogs down with a library my size, it wont see my folder.jpgs, cant find art for my 1/3 of my music etc........................... I does work wonderfully for syncing my Calenders, Notes, Contacts etc, to Outlook though.
For EVERYTHING else besides audio (little) I do with a computer (outside of work), could be easily done on any machine in the world. I have never felt the need to spend top dollar for such a machine.
My phone and tablet are another question though. I do want the best and the iPhone 4 and iPad are IT.
I am using the Synology 712 NAS and the AIFF files are stored in the Music folder with uPnP enabled.

you copy the cover.jpg into your album folder, then try again.
It must ok

Much will depend on the upnp server you're using. Try Marcobb's suggestion.
Dear Richard and Marcobb,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Good news and bad news!
The good new is that the method suggested by Marcobb indeed works. Problem solved? Not quite.
Here comes the bad news (for me at least). I currently have more than 1,500 albums ripped in AIFF format. They all work fine under the iTune + Amarra system (with MacBook Pro as the server). Specifically, all the album covers are properly displayed in the iPad through its proprietary Remote App. In order to achieve the same result, it follows that I have to find the album cover for all these 1,500 plus album. What a task!
Forgive me if this is a stupid question as I just bought the Synology NAS yesterday. Is there a server that can be somehow "incorporated" in the Synology so that it can read the album art that is embedded in the AIFF files?
Many thanks in advance.
What about 'bliss' ?
Dear Jobseeker,
Please elaborate what is "bliss" as I am not very proficient in terms of computer.

Dude, what do you have against windows 7?
BB - you may want to take a look at this thread.

It will allow you to find artwork that's not embedded in the files and also create a folder for you from the artwork already there so you dont need to manually do it for your 1500 albums. This should allow the server you are using to pickup the artwork from your AIFF library.
