Plug player works?
I ask this because songbook naim and the build in audio player on my synology both failed o play to uniti. It would repeat the first song on the playlist forever no matter how many songs are on it, or some other unexpected behavior.......

i dont see why it wouldnt work

I just want to know if someone actually tried and if it works.
I see no reason why any of my above works but it really didn't.

Lhau, yes PlugPlayer works, specifically here on iPad and iPhone controlling various uPNP servers including asset, twonkymedia, windows media into an NDX, or streaming to the iPad itself.

Ok just to report that I bought the plugplayer for Mac from App store, the result is......
it either hangs during start up searching or doesn't work.
When I select the uniti as renderer the playlist would show the last song the uniti played. No matter what I did I couldn't add songs to the playlist at all. All I could do with it wS to click play or stop, nothing else....
So much for upnp interoperability......

Sounds like you need Vortexbox

Begs to ask why?
My problem seems related to the uniti not letting go of playlist control to others. Does not seem changing the server would help......

What server?
Which iOS device?
Are you starting playback on the Uniti, then, trying to control on PP? You cant. Uniti cant tell PP what it has for a playlist. Initiate playback from PP then control in PP.

I use synology ds211 as upnp server, uniti as player and an iMac to run plugplayer.
No I did not start play with uniti. I stopped it and tried to make plugplayer control it.
The thing is that plugplayer is unable/unwilling to so anything to the playlist no matter how I click on the songs from
The server.
The playlist always show the last song I played on the uniti before I stopped playback

May I conclude from these posts, that PlugPlayer works fine on iOS but not on MacOS? or are there any other experiences?

I am using PlugPlayer with a Macbook Pro. Initially it couldnt find my server but a reset of the server fixed that. Now and then it may stop halfway through playing an album but it has generally worked.
I had been trying Twonky Mobile and UPnPlay on my Android phone but both did not work as easily as PlugPlayer.
I had been playing around with a Synology DS211j as a back up server and it had no trouble seeing it or playing albums from the Synology.

TN, were you able to play it to the uniti? If so may I know how?
I could see both the server and the uniti as the renderer, I have selected input as upnp on the uniti, but no matter what I did it just doesn't put any song to the playlist o the uniti.......

I'm using the NDX.
When you select your server, does it not load all your albums which you can then select to play?
This is what I do:
1) Select the album -- once selected, the song list appears on the window on the right
2) Then I click on the first song of that list (if I want to start from there). When I click on it, the song list appears in the "Playlist" window on the bottom right and it starts to play.

I can see the songs on the server with cover art even.
I can also add to playlist if the renderer is not the uniti. But once I selected uniti, it just refuse to function, not even if I switch the renderer back to others.

Sorry - cant help you with that. If you can play songs with another renderer, perhaps there is a problem with the Uniti and PlugPlayer. Not sure why that would be the case.

Ihau and TN,
Could you try the Kinsky Desktop MacOS version? I am using the windows version with NDX with no major problems now, and also looking for a cp on Mac for a friend who will take over my NDX for a while.

Aysil,
I did try the Kinsky Desktop MacOS version. It seemed to work fine initially, except for the odd time it wouldnt play though a whole album. But then it stopped working. Every time I opened it, I would get an error message and "report to Apple" button to click.
Didnt try to find out what was wrong as I downloaded PlugPlayer and it worked. So I deleted Kinsky from my Mac.
