Will nVi work with DVI to VGA cable?

Hi,
I want to borrow a monitor from a friend but it only has a VGA input.
The n-Vi is only PAL/NTSC, so resolution isn't an issue, but will the nVi output an analogue signal via DVI which will be properly converted to VGA?

Anybody ever tried this? Do you see a difference on a 20" screen between nVi DVI-HDMI and DVI-VGA?

DVI support is DVI-D only–to use a VGA input (as opposed to component video, which would be preferable), one requires a component-to-VGA converter (of which poorer-quality samples will drastically affect performance).
