Naim Radio guide : NAIM INTERNET RADIO TUNNING SERVICE

Posted by: JLD on 01 July 2011

Naim  iradio streamers (especially uniti/qute) give access to a web site to manage all radio stations provided by Vtuner (gateway to Internet streamed media used by uniti Iradio menu)

NAIM INTERNET RADIO TUNNING SERVICE

http://myradio.naimaudio.com/s...AuthLogin/SignIn.asp

Here is a screen shot of this web page when I'm logged :

Favourites Group

I don't understand how to use the "add favorite shows" button (with the heart +).

When I click on it a new windows is displayed to store the station or to create Favourites Groups, but these group are ghosted.

I cannot find them both in the radio guide and in the uniti menu.

I suppose this feature should be the right solution  to access to a list of user pre-selected stations without to store the radio under a direct number on the remote control, especially if we have a relatively huge number of favorite...

On the contrary I can add special URL in "my added station" section.

These stations are displayed in the naim uniti menu.

(on my screenshot you can see Radio paradise AAC 128k...at this time that was the solution to get this quality, now this flux is acceded directly from the naim's choice) (1)

(1) By the way for Paradise in Naim's choice, I would like to indicate that only the kind of flux (IE ACC) is actually displayed on the front display if "stream info" is required (but with "stream name" the rate is indicated.

Is there any other users who can light my lantern ?

Thanks in advance

Jean-Luc

I've contacted them several times over the past 2+ years via email and they never respond with any type of answer that is helpful.  Sure wish could get some support assistance.

Hello Develyn and Naim peoples

I've contacted Vtuner as followiing:

I don't understand how to manage my favorite with the "add to favorite shows " button.
Where can I find help (documentation)
(Renderer = Naim Uniti)

This website is not dispalyed with firefox 5.0

Thanks in advance
JLD

Here are there (kind and rapid) answer:

Have you registered at http://myradio.naimaudio.com/s...AuthLogin/SignIn.asp ? This is where you can register, set and manage your favorites.
For documentation, please contact Naim directly.

I've logged my webpage with Firefox 5.0 without any problem this morning. So the "bug" with this navigator is solved for me.

Please Naim can we have a documentation for the website?

Thank very much in advance.

After further investigations, it appears that Naim should add a "favorite" item in the uniti menu in the same way we have now "naim's choice"

An alternative way should be to create a tool directly on the website to put an existing station in the list in the "My added stations" section. (already in the menu)

I have other problems with this service. I can not add, edit or delete stations to "My Added Stations" anymore.

Take a look at the screenshot below where "My added stations" are listed. As you can see the values for "Station name", "Genre" and "Stream" are swapped for some reason.

When I try to delete this station from the list bij clicking on the delete button (the heart with minus sign icon) I got the following reply:

Huh?

When I try to add a new station to the list by filling in the form below..

..and then clicking on the arrow button I got this reply:

Huh?

Does anyone experience the same issues with this service?

I also tried to contact v-tuner about this but I did get any reply from them.

Regards,
Sven

Hi Sven,

I don't experience the issues you've reported.

I don't know if it's a vtuner problem or a naim issue.

One of my recent problem (impossible login with Firefox seems to be solved by Vtuner support after contacting them.) Now this work fine.

So I suppose you can contact them to know who is relevant to solve your issues.

I hope Naim people will take a clear position about this service to know where we have to share bugs and issues.

The favourites feature on vTuner isn’t actually supported by Naim as we have our own preset manager on the products.

It was removed as a direct link from the naim.vtuner.com offering, but due to various reasons wasn’t removed from the link button

Hi Steve,

Do you mean the presets that get wiped when the firmware is upgraded (at least on a Uniti), or am I misunderstanding?

Tom

Hi tom

When a firmware upgrade is made the Uniti have to be reseted to factory settings.

So yes the presets are lost.

Have I answered your question?

Yes Jean-Luc, thank you.

The favourites on v Tuner was useful because it did not get wiped with firmware upgrades, but it appears this is no longer supported.

Hi Tom

If I understand this feature worked in the past ?

hi all

to avoid confusion going forward. the favourites feature of vTuner has never been supported on the NaimUniti/UnitiQute or NDX products. We support the added stations feature from vTuner and we offer our own unified preset manager for storing radio stations from FM/DAB and iRadio together in one place.

if the added stations feature isnt working for you, this is a issue and i would welcome more information on this

Hi Trevor

What exactly you've named "our own unified preset manager"?

Are the presets acceded  from the remote control (uniti)?

JL

hi JLD, not quite sure i understand your question but i'll try to explain what i mean.

The preset manager Naim have implemented means that you can access the FM, DAB and iRadio preset in one place (via the product front panel with remote control) or n-stream). Naim wished to avoid the FM,DAB and iRadio presets all being stored in different places and accessed in different ways (hence complicating the user experience), so we decided to a preset manager that did that task in one place.

Section 7 of the NaimUniti Reference manual explains how to store and access presets. The manual can be found in the All-in-one section on the Naim website. http://www.naimaudio.com/support/manuals

Thank you very much Trevor

Ok that's exactly what I've understood. but I wasn't sure.

So I do have to read again the manual. I use every day this feature

The added station feature in NAIM INTERNET RADIO TUNNING SERVICE is working for me.

(except this is not very simple to add a radio because I have to find the url first (in my case from winamp on my pc after playing the radio station with the "heart button)

A very clean solution could be to send directly a given station as an added station.

In this case I can have the remote control preset for my "best favorites"  (limited by my own memory) and the added stations for a personal extended list of "trial favorites"

Do you see what I mean?

I' don't know if this is possible an easy to implement but it could be a nice improvement of the actual NAIM INTERNET RADIO TUNNING SERVICE...

Best regards

Jean-Luc

Hi Trevor,

The "My added stations" feature at http://naim.vtuner.com/ isn't working for me.

I can not add stations to the list anymore (and therefor not to the favorite list of the Uniti), which I've tried to explain in my previous post using screenshots.

Hi Sven

Steve hopkins will be in touch, we will work with you and vTuner to resolve this

Hi Sven. Hopefully your sorted now. If anyone else has a similar issue with vtuner added stations then please let Steve Hopkins at Naim know your mac address so we can resolve.

Hi Trevor,

Adding stations to the "My Added Stations" list on the vtuner website is working again.

Thank you and others at Naim for the quick and adequate response.
