My thread about when people joined the forum.

I take it that it's not easy for a moderator to just remove posts as necessary. Or did it turn nasty today?

It's such a shame, as I was enjoying the friendlier posts.

Tony

I suspect it is temporarily offline pending being trimmed. I believe sometimes Richard will remove a thread and get back to it later to do the necessary when he has more time.

Cheers, Julian

Thanks Julian. That makes sense.

Hi Tony,

Saw your thread and was going to reply but thought it wasn't worth it getting lost in the eWar.

Anyway I started reading the forum in mid-to-late 2005 when I decided to give up on my never ending pursuit of a surround sound system and look for a good 2 channel system. I then realised that I had a Naim dealer in Brisbane where I was living at the time. I think I joined and posted after making my purchase and for the next 3 to 4 years I used to check the forum each day and even made a few posts - usually in response to latest gig I'd been to and a few of the F1 related threads also. I started a few as well but nothing earth shattering.

When I returned to the UK I just seemed to have better things to do than sit at the computer and I stopped checking it so regularly. I still have an occassional look but I think I fall into the category that someone mentioned where you just don't seem to be so interested anymore. Still into my music but can't get excited about new stuff - if it happens great but I think I seem to be happy with what I've got. As for F1, well I now live in Buckingham and so Silverstone is a 10 minute drive. I'll be there on Friday but watch Q & race on TV - there's just too many people to make it truly enjoyable for Sat & Sun.

Hope the on-topic part of your thread get's resurrected.

Cheers

Scott

Surely good manners would be to let the thread originator know why a thread has been pulled?

Did I miss something?

Dear James,

Yes - a page of me and meschman [Mike Eshmann] crossing swords. Tony, I apologise for it, and hope that Richard will delete the page of me stoically chipping away at Eschmann's approach [with support from several kind people] so that the nice posts can be restored. Richard, sorry for creating you some work, as the trhead was more than just pleasant.

The trouble was that I waited for Eschmann to post agiant since he called me a caustic morron the last time he posted. It probably was not worth doing, and challenging him, thus wrecking the original thread, I am sorry. Let us hope the original thread and this can be pruned, restotored and put together agian.

Sorry to all for the false pride that meant I was waiting for the chance to tackle Eschmann.

George

George, No apologies needed. I've gone for the throat on other forums, but only after careful thought, and only with those that seem to deserve it. I think you've seen how much the forum appreciates your presence, and I'm very happy you're staying. Tony

Dear Tony

I try to post worthwhile things, so have a look at the current thread - Thoughts on Stereo - in the Hifi Corner, for some thought provoking ideas from many - not just me.

Again, aplologies for being mostly responsible for ruining your worthwhile thread. Hopefully Richard will prune and restore ...

This shows we need another thread: "When people LEFT the forum"...

George I suspect my final post was a major cause of it being pulled. I hope it was obvious it was meant in overwhelming support of you.

To be honest I was pleasantly surprised this morning to find I was still able to post.

Things like this are tough on the OP but that's forums for you.

Can or should the Padded Cell be renamed Keyboard Warriors Corner?

That's a really stupid suggestion Jim (this could run and run)

Graeme

Once upon a time I would enter into some of the debates on here and argue my corner as passionately as rationally/irrationally as some here still do.

Now, I read them and move on.  There are much more important things to be doing methinks.

Cheers

I was really enjoying the thread, didn't check back for a few days and it was gone. I did look at it on Google's cached search and can quite see why it was pulled. Pity, but understandable.

Perhaps a new thread could be started, 'When did you join the foumr - polite version'.
