Having troubles streaming wav with my UniQute

Posted by: Goodeyeclosed on 05 July 2011

I have all my CDs ripped on to my hard drive in WAV format via itunes.  I just got my Naim Uniqute and using nStream on my iPad I can see all my music files which is great.  But I can only play the mp3s not the WAVs.  What am I doing wrong?

help!

What ever you are using as a upnp server is not able to transcode wav.

which upnp server should I use?  Which ones transcode wav and flac?

Hi, i can confirm Asset transcodes from FLAC to Wave, and reads tags from wave within files.

Totally recommend it and it has a version that runs in Windows Home Server.

You don't need to transcode....the Qute should play WAV files. Which UPnP server are you using?

I was originally using Tversity.  I'm presently trying Twonky and Asset.

You should just be able to point Asset at your iTunes music library and it will serve the WAV files to the Qute. The only other things that normally cause problems are the PC firewall and file sharing but given you can play MP3s then it's unlikely to be either (in fact I don't think sharing is an issue when you are streaming from same machine).

Very strange - I think I would be ringing the dealer. Is it the same with both Asset and Twonky?

Oh and make sure you only have one UPnP server configured at a time, disable the others

If the upnp server he is using cannot handle wav then the uniti won't see it, simple as that. Transcode was the wrong word sorry about that.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Actually it does see wavs but just won't play them. Also I installed Asset which works great for wavs but doesn't recognize my flac files. Anybody else run into this?
