When I login I get a banner that says -

Interesting as I am using IE 9 on this Dell laptop.

Hopeless indeed.

Make sure your installation of IE9 is not set to emulate an older browser's user agent.
Posted on: 06 July 2011 by dave simpson

...i.e., turn off compatibility view in IE9 and the unsupported browser message disappears

Dave,

Its still shite man.

The fookin colours need to change.

We have learnt over the last  few years since the N/vi came out everything is now a work in progress when it comes to Naim kit.

BUT WHY THE FORUM????????????????????????

Why fix something that was not bust in the first place?

Sad thing is that Naim are paying for this

I wonder where Naim get the money for it ???

The other sad thing is that after the forum changed & we all protested, some changes were made. Then we were asked to be patient, try it,  more stuff is coming,  just be patient

OK patient wait over ......  very little has happened & I guess most of us are just resigned to 2nd best

Not exactly in the image of Naim

Strange.

I'm using Firefox.

Posted on: 07 July 2011 by BigH47

I thought I'd just pop in and make a positive comment.

I am positive I don't like this.

Congratulations Hoopless you have made an awful forum even worse.

Maybe see some of you elsewhere.

Posted on: 07 July 2011 by GraemeH

You can please some of the people some of the time.......etc, etc.

Posted on: 07 July 2011 by Julian H

I now get this at work all the time and can do nothing about it...

Great, well let me tell you, Hoop.la then, your f*** forum is unsupported cos it's still complete tosh!

I must sadly agree that the forum layout has gone from bad to worse.  There is not one single thing of use in the right hand column, and yet, it takes up almost 50% of the real estate.   Inexplicable!

Oh wait, I just remembered...we are supposed to be grateful that the right side isn't loaded with advertisements.

Never mind.

Bloody useless update

AND - more to the point

Bloody useless making any constructive comment on what is wrong or how to improve things

in other words

A total waste of time

Cheers

To start with: Spooge.

And you're right Garyi. Of what use are the following tags:  Attributes, hand, performer, postage, music and, er, Aelive in Bergambacht?

The phrase design over content comes to mind. In this case Bad Design over Good Content.

(Still, I'm sure I'll get used to it)

I really miss this forum and have attempted to return a few times now and its the unfriendliness of the software thats stopping me. Now with the recent update they've supposedly gone away from the clean uncluttered look that was the point of the change to a messy and bad layout style, and it still isn't compatible with my browser of choice after how many months. I'll persevere but its just feels badly thought out.

OK some pointers....

Get multi-platform compatibility right before doing anything else.

Take away the Tag box not needed, it looks messy, people will use the search function.

Move the Post New Topic widget to the left hand side above the forum notification.

Forum archives box and recent threads should only be visible on the forum main page.

Widen the replies box to screen width.

There are many other problems but I cannot be arsed to add more because they are so fecking obvious you should already know what they are Hoop.la.

To me these are basic design flaws, it smacks of trying to be different for different sakes.

Reason for edit: Spooge.

Can of Spooge

Hopefully non of the "catering" at Silverstone has Spooge for sale.

Posted on: 09 July 2011 by garyi

Haha, value spooge, the best spooge of all.

Posted on: 09 July 2011 by Julian H

Is Spooge available as one of Heinz 57 varieties too?

What is a tag box and why are we being asked to keep typing Spooge?

Posted on: 09 July 2011 by elkman70

The update is bollo*ks.

This is worse than it was before - there is load of useless garbage now on the right hand side that just makes it slower - the designers are not very good (assuming there were any as it looks like zero thought has gone in to it) and the programmers are weak. the coding seems extremely poor - very amateurish all round in my view. Did these guys ever work for Microsoft?

Sorry, just being honest.

I have resisted complaining about the software and look of the forum, until now, as I like the group of people who frequent this place, but this last week it has got harder to use.

I sometimes find it take three attempts to get a reply to post, then if I look the next day a couple of them are there together. I tried to embed a video from YouTube and found that it just didn't work, others may have worked out how to do this, but I have better thins to do with my time than try and learn how something should work that was fine on the old forum.

Until I find something as good as the Naim forum I will keep posting, but when it becomes difficult to just make a reply, it takes the wind out of discussions.

I use Firefox, so for those with platfroms that work less well with Hoopla stuff it must be very disheartening.

Jamie, it is awful using the tools on this forum, but one workaround is to select HTML (last option) and to paste in the code from you tube that you get by selecting Embed from Ctrl-Click (or right mouse button). This usual works.  I use Safari and Chrome as my browsers.

What these guys can't understand is the something should be simple to use - nobody wants loads of fancy features if they can't figure out the basics.
