UNDERCOVER TV Programme

My wife and I watched every episode of the above 'Undercover' ; when we watched the last episode we were still in mystery as to the final end of the story. We still do not know why the MI5 was so obsessed about the lady lawyers actions. Perhaps the person in Louisiana who was sentenced to death by lethal injection was an assassin working for CIA/MI5 to kill the senator, that is why he said to the lady lawyer 'that the senator deserved to die he did many evil things', so she got a stay on his execution but he is implying that he did kill the senator?
Can somebody please be so kind to explain what was the last episode about so to end our frustration!

I watched the end of the last episode earlier today and I thought they meant that Michael Antwi murdered the man (mayor elect of Baton Rouge?) who landed Rudy Jones on death row but no idea why or the CIA/MI5 link back
