Why is it so bloody hard to post pictures on here?

Posted by: dayjay on 24 May 2016

I've got three post grad qualifications and a hundred years experience of using PCs; I can set up a network, build a PC from scratch and use pretty much anything but I will be damned if I can consistently post photos into this site!  In the distant happy past I could post them from flickr using the instructions that were listed but then those happy days passed and it no longer worked.  A friendly Hallibut who occasionally swims in these waters told me about Photobucket and lo, I could use it from my phone and it worked - for a while.  Now I want to post a picture, not especially a good one but one I want to post nether the less, and I can not, for the love of God, work out how to do so from Photobucket on my PC.  When I try to crap the URL from the stupid flash box to the right it says 'copied' I then past it into the top box on the little mountain symbol and it pastes a lovely little box into the comment box with nothing in it.

If anyone can save my sanity and prevent me from throwing my PC out of the window I would be forever grateful for your help!

David - are you cutting and pasting from the box called "Direct", second down from the top of the box entitled Photo Links? That's what I use on Photobucket.

Mike, you are a genius and if we ever meet I will happily buy you a beer!

This one... I.e. Direct Link

It may of course be different on a PC. I only ever use an iPad and the photobucket app.

There speaks a man representing the majority of us in this world, where we suffer others to tell us technology enables things to connect seamlessly and 'just work', only we end users perpetually have to tell them they 'just don't!'

Well goodness gracious it does work .. like DAYJAY I had been sat seething at my inability to upload pictures.  It would work once maybe twice but then zero for weeks.  I am astounded by my own ineptitude and hesitancy to ask for help .. thank you everyone.

For those interested this is my new rack(s) .. 2 inch thick cherry shelving with black walnut verticals.

Initially I used the IMG link, last on the list, as per Photobucket instructions for posting on forums. This worked fine for a while, then stopped, and it was only after a great deal of time wasting and swearing that I discovered the Direct link worked. It would be nice if there was one intuitively simple method that just worked, and a simple set of instructions to tell you how.

Just to check it still works, here's a photo of me attempting to commit suicide after a particularly arduous seven hour attempt to post a pic...
