Hi,
I've owned a new NDX for a few weeks. I stream FLAC natively via Minimserver on my Synology DS over a fully wired network. Gapless playback works for album tracks that are already in the playlist. However, when I cue a track for immediate playback, sometimes the start of the track is slightly clipped, as if the NDX has not buffered enough of the track. Is this a known feature? This never happens with my Linn Majik DS. I have not thus far tried a different server, e.g. Asset running on my PC, thought I would ask if others have come across this before I start tinkering too much.
I also observed this behaviour for an album in the playlist where a couple of tracks had a higher sample rate compared to adjacent tracks, and upon change of sample rate, the clipping on track start occurred.
I much prefer the sound of the NDX to my first-generation Majik DS, but this playback glitch is bugging me somewhat, so appreciate any suggestions as to whether anything can be done to address it.
Many thanks.
Adam.

The simplest solution is to install Asset and see how it works. It's free to download (pay if you keep it) and will take 10 minutes at most; probably 5.
I've not experienced this with either a qnap or synology nas with Minimserver. But I dont do mixed playlists; I'll see if I can reproduce it (with the most current build of MinimServer and MinimStreamer).

I don't seem to have the problem, tracks start cleanly, straight in & no delay but nothing like clipping that I can find. With different sample rates, 16/44, 24/96 to 24/192 & back again had no effect.
I suggest you load Synology's Media Server as its already on your machine, a one touch install & open & see what that does.
I have NDX - all Ethernet - Synology DS214 + Synology native UPnP Media Server - WAV & DSD - iPad

Thanks for comments so far. Using Synology's own media server does not fix this. Seems to be a particular issue when the new track is a different bit/sample-depth to the one that has been previously playing. So if the NDX is already in "24/96 mode", I can cue my 24/96 tracks and they open cleanly, whereas if I play a different bit-depth track and then cue a 24/96 track where there is no embedded silence before the audio, the opening of the song is very obviously clipped. This is completely reproducible behaviour. I too am running a DS214+ with control via an iPad. I have a robust network infrastructure.

I dont think something is amiss with the OP's NDX Bart. The truncated track issue is something that has been reported in the Beta forum before and Naim HQ had been aware of it.
In my system (Unitiserve => NDX, FLAC transcoded to WAV on the fly by the US) I also have the split second at the start of a track missing when changing between bit depth tracks.
Ill raise it again in the Beta forum to see if the Naim guys & girls have a fix for it yet.

I believe so, firmware 4.4 and iOS app version 4.8. Based on other comments it seems this is a firmware issue, any change of bit depth between tracks where the new track has no leading silence is very obviously clipped, e.g the word "tonight" at the start of Don't Stop Me Now in 24/96 clips the "to" entirely. But on re-starting the track it's fine. I'm a bit unimpressed, as this reinforces a concern I had when switching from Linn that the operational side of streaming might not be as robust with Naim. However, there is much to like about the NDX, and there are aspects of the Naim app which I prefer as well. I will mull this over.

It happenes to me occasionally - it seems to be confined to my NDX. My other streamers work OK.
I got used to it, just rewind back to the start using a remote control (not via Naim app).
