New Wilson Naim Quadrshire Synology System Share
Posted by: blownaway on 01 June 2016
At last after almost 6 months without a system, I finally have my new system up & running. Previously I owned ARC Reference pre-amp, amp, CD 7 & Sonus Faber Guareri Memento speakers. I enjoyed this system for 7 years before selling it all for a new streaming based audio solution. After months of auditioning speakers, electronics and the help of the Naim forum I ended up with..
Naim NAC-272 w/tuner
Naim DR-250
Linn LP-12 with Urika phono stage, Ekos II arm, Akiva, rosenut plinth with Radical power supply (not new)
Wilson Audio Sabrina speakers in Galaxy Gray finish
Super Lumina speaker cable
Quadrashire SVT in Black Bamboo finish (one of the few in the US to own, took about 2 months to get)
I also picked up a new Synology DS 716+ with 12TB (only using 3 so far)
I also had new Cat 6 running from Blue Jean Cable from my router to my Cisco switch.
I use minimserver exclusively. All my music is in folder view by artist with individual CD’s inside each folder. So easy to organize your collection this way. Minimserver has a nice interface, I like it a lot. It even plays my occasional DSD files (wow do they sound good)
Bottom line is this system sounds great! I know it sounds crazy but honestly I never really had a chance to audition all these parts of my system together. Only had a chance to hear the Sabrina on Rega and not with Naim. However, I did hear that Wilson has a SuperUniti hooked up with a pair of their speakers in their conference room at their factory in UT
I also spoke to several dealers across the country who sell both lines and they shared their opinions of the combo. I took the leap, and glad I did.
My system now is faster, more dynamic and engaging than ever before. Music is lively, entertaining, and hard turn down. I haven’t listen to that many LP’s yet, but will soon. I haven’t heard the tuner or phono jack yet either. Compared with my previous system, the sound is clean, punchy & extended top to bottom.
Thanks go out to fellow forum members whose comments along the way have been helpful (and entertaining).
I underestimated how high the performance & convenience level can be reached with a state of the art streaming solution. Now I’m sold!
PS-the empty rack will be filled soon ![]()
