SuperUniti

Hi,

I am looking at buying a SuperUniti and wanted to know if there was a difference between the first version w/o BlueTooth and the second one with, other than the obvious.

Thanks!

The bluetooth upgrade was just that, if you don't need BT and are looking for a used one, save some cash and get the earlier version.

Just make sure you do the following, if buying used

* Reset to factory settings

* Upgrade the firmware - available from the Naim website.

I bought one and I checked with Naim. The only difference is BT and DAB+. Mine sounds lovely!

Save money If you can, the Bluetooth does not have a high quality. Another feature which does not make sense for me is the radio fm/dab because internet radio work very well and sound good.

I would have preferred a good phono stage built in instead the BT

I wouldn't necessarily agree with Antin, I like the FM option but both SU 1 & 2 have this.

I have a SU sans Bluetooth and am very happy with it, having said that Bluetooth can be very useful for catch up radio etc.

I agree, the FM sound from the SU certainly beats iRadio on sound quality. Bluetooth is just another convenience feature that I could do wothout.

I find the FM/DAB indispensible on my SU and NDX - listening to FM now, whilst having breakfast.

Thanks for the input - I have decided to buy it - pretty good deal considering the cost of the one with BT. I would never play anything through BT anyway.

WIll report back as to how I like it, as it will be my first foray into Naim, other than the Muso, which I do love.

Good decision; the Superuniti is really nice. Make sure you disable its digital out and any unused inputs, for the best sound. Disabling unused inputs makes the app tidier too.

The last days I'm noticing something strange regarding the display and the mute/unmute feature. I set the display in off when I mute but sometimes the display keep on and it freezes for a few seconds. I think it's also the logo/mute has some electrical problem because it does not work sometimes. For the rest the SU is fantastic but these little bugs make me angry

I do not know what kind of music broadcast on FM in your country but in Italy  most  FM radio station listen contemporary commercial pop, Rihanna, One Direction, Laura Pausini etc etc. trash music for me so I have not even added an antenna.

I can not give up on internet radio with my favorite stations as BarRockin'Blues from Detroit,  Naim Radio 320K, Linn Jazz Radio, Linn Classic. I love have coffee in the morning listening BossaNovaBrazil radio, relaxing and refined music for to start the day;  Often when I do not have time to go to the gym I do gymnastic exercises in my living room, pushups and abdominal, listening Ambient, ChromaRnature, NirvanaRmedia etc etc.

Anto - clearly you need to move to Poland to listen to some quality FM broadcast. I mostly listen to EskaRock. I think the name says it all
