display not showing tracks available on disc

Hi

Does the disc spin up as soon as you close the tray? 

It will half of the time spin up to _ _ and then stay stuck there. So far, reopening and closing the tray seems to generally, but not always bring up the track total. Other times it just gets stuck at _ _ again.

Have you tried gently cleaning the laser? 

Yes. Both with soft cloth and wiggled the VAM 1202 gently. To expand, had that replaced several months ago as it was skipping. Skipping started again several days ago so have been dealing with that issue with Naim. Might need to have it replaced again as they suggested that it might be "a little picky".  They can't tell me, though, if this display issue is related at all or something else. Skipping has disappeared my last 20 CDs but the display issue has appeared on 9 of those CDs.

Eight years of just load the disc, press play, watch tracks available appear briefly, then it starts playing. Wonderful. Now I have to go through multiple steps, reloads, etc. before I can listen to music. Just annoying but enough to take the anticipation for music down a step.

Hmmm. The other thing to try would be to place the puck back in its position (no cd in place). The puck will stick to the central cd locator. Lift the puck slowly. If the puck lifts the central locator up the motor shaft with it, that could be your problem. 

If not, back to Naim she goes.
