NAC252 + Supercap 2 DR vs NAC552 Non DR

Err no it does not.

They are quite different NACs with differing presentations.. the power supplies don't really change that

Not by al long way, in whatever configuration the 252 will only ever be a 252. The 552 has a wider band width and you will always be able to hear more of the music!

I value what the DR did to my 552 PS and would recommend the upgrade. I also owned a 252/SC2. The step up from 252 to 552 is enormous, imho. A DR SC2 may improve on the 252 but it simply will not raise the SQ to the level of a 552, DR or not.

Once my dealer told me that the 552 is the only one with balanced power supply working at 48 v instead of 24, hence his outrageus dynamics and speed

In the Naim world, you get what you pay for, nobody who has heard the full range of Naim amps will really disagree with that.

After all why should those who pay for the 552 hear a DR 252 and then think - oh damn, why did I pay the extra money.

Now after hearing all the range, to my ears the UQ2 sounds very good, but then DAC V1/100 is better, and it just gets better and better as you pay more money, the kind of speakers the amp can drive gets more better too.

Allante you seem to raise a lot of questions lately, is your system not giving you lots of enjoyment I wonder? I would try to devote lots of effort into fixing the issues with your system that are causing you to ask so many questions, which to me indicate some kind of doubt over the performance.

Why don't you take a trip to a Naim dealer and hear the difference ? Leave the credit card at home though if money is an issue.

Anyway I am personally just fine at 282/HC DR/250 DR level, and enjoy it hugely, with no feeling of me needing to upgrade anything at all, but as many others have said lately, the Uq2 with compatible speakers like Neat Iota, and it is all the system one can need to enjoy music, well at least until you hear the better and more expensive Naim products

No comparison. They could scarcely be more different in presentation, DR or not. There is no gap to narrow because the 552 is not like a "better" 252.  Apples and bowling balls. And both peerless at their respective price points. Naim have been doing the price differentiation thing for years and they're good at it.

No questions analog, you just summed it all up in your last paragraph! I was just extending to the OP's post! I really just enjoy you gents getting it on!

Six weeks ago I replaced a 252/supercap DR with an ex dem 552 non DR. The 252 does not stand a chance.

552PS currently away for DR upgrade
