New (To Me) 250.2 Transforms the Ovator S400

Not too many posts extolling the virtues of the 250.2 paired with the S400.

The post Christmas upgrade path from NDX:SN2 PMC.23 is now complete with NDX:NDAC/XPS2 282/SCAP2 250.2 Ovator S400. The 250.2 replaced a 200 and it is settling in nicely over the course of a few day's playing. I'd had everything powered down 48h and it's surprising how long it takes to regain equilibrium in the system. I'm guessing the 250.2 has been off for a few weeks at least. Music sounded very flat, grey and undynamic for a good few days, but since the weekend everything is opening up nicely - and today is a revelation.

What a gutsy beast the 250.2 is proving to be compared to the 200! It is postively gripping the S400 by the proverbials and taking complete control across the spectrum - I suspect with a less capable preamp and speakers it could overwhelm. Just played 'The Wall' and it was breathtaking - Detail, delicacy and SLAM...all musically intact.

I'm 'wowed'!

Have ordered a Witch Hat 4X Din-XLR for SCAP to 250.2 to see if it is as good as folks make out. It's a 30 day money back deal so no loss if no improvement over the (pretty flimsy) standard naim one.

DR upgrades will follow in the longer term but for now, well...Wow!

Thanks Adam & Singh.

Anyone considering the Hatpin 4X I'd say definitely give it a try - an excellent investment.

I'm now contemplating moving my 282/250 to power the Ovators (instead of SuperNait2)

I'd be interested to know how you get on Adam.
