Super Lumina for SN2

Posted by: Nic Chan on 07 June 2016

Anyone have experience with the SL speaker cables on the SN2 what can I expect in terms of SQ. (No demo or home audition here in HK.) I am planning to upgrade my NACA5 with SL or TQ ultra black or diamond.  Just want to find out if anyone has experience on this.

Been with the XPS for a week still waiting for it to bed in but I have to say it's a great improvement on SQ. Trebles are much smoother, blacker black, bass dive much deeper, piano sounds a lot more realistic. After all it's more analog! Much easier to listen to music!

Thank you so much for the advise HH. A really good call. I'm going  for a pre loved nDac to add to it and looking forward to see what it brings to the party!

Good, I'm pleased it's lived up to your expectations. One more piece of advice if I may - don't get the nDac. Just stop buying boxes and enjoy the music. The XPS will need a few months to run in, and there is a lot more to come.

I tried SL with my SuperNait2 for a few weeks - warming up my Ovators S400. it certainly does sound very good. But... at this level of amplification NACA5 is equally good. That's what I use now on this system.

SuperLumina is now used with my other system.

So - use your money somewhere else....

When you mentioned the NACA5 is equally good, does that mean there is no difference between the Super Lumina and NACA5 when used on the Supernait2 to the Ovator S400.

Yeah maybe I'll just wait a couple of moths for it to settle and just enjoy the music.

What I meant is that SuperNait 2 does not really merit a SuperLumina speaker cable in financial terms. The quality improvement from the SL is a bit too small in my opinion to justify it. We are then well into really diminishing returns teritory.

I moved my SL to the living room system and that was a good match.

Conclusion: it's all about balancing the system. The most revealing cables are not necessarily the best. The best ones are those that balance the system's sound to one's liking.

I recently add SL speaker cables to my 272/300dr/TXPS setup, they are burned cables from my dealer while I am waiting new ones, I never tough cables could make such a difference, a stage opened in front of me, not only as wide but as deep the as well, now I can hear a real stage in front of me, although the effect differ depending on the quality and mastering of the recording, you hear it and feel it when it is there, so the change is more like from recorded music toward a small stage live performance, I hope I did make some sense ☺

Emre - you may want to re-consider a power supply for such a fine set up. I've tried the one you have, but we cannot discuss it here. If you wish feel free to email me directly (email is in my profile).
