Yep, dynamics, power, micro dynamics, bass performance and slam, timing all important in rock music.
Oh dear, I thought it was so obvious that it was a joke question (AC/DC), now two serious responses (or is that now tge joke on me...?)
Now that Naim have introduced the SL cables, it opens the debate about other power cables being better/different than the standard lead (previously a topic which wasn't entertained). Personally I use Clearer Audio cables and find the quality of build excellent as well as, in my opinion, benefiting sound. I suspect that the levels of shielding are a factor in reducing RFI and other such interference. You might also want to consider 'fuses' as all your lovely power ultimately has to travel down a bit of wire a few millimetres thick. Then, of course, you will need to update the faceplates in the wall and fit your own dedicated spur...enjoy the journey.
WHSTURM - that isn't entirely true - what Naim always said was that they had never found another cable that worked as well as their standard lead but they would continue to look at it.
But it is a dedicated spur that really makes the difference.

Nope I'm just a bit dense, now that you've pointed it out I get it, shocking really

Sorry to have made a negative of your positive response. I hope you weren't insul ted.

I don't disagree but, of course, we don't know which other cables Naim compared their own with? I suspect that they didn't cover the entire market. In any case, if SL is accepted to be 'better' than the standard lead then that means that the standard lead can be 'bettered'. Once you accept that argument there can be many cables which outperform the standard cable...
Of course it may simply be that Naim created the SL cables to fill a market gap i.e. there was an opportunity to sell more expensive cables to Statement owners. In which case perhaps SL isn't better than the standard lead but just different. Personally I have no problem with our capitalist system and Naim making profits (as long as it contributes to the continuance of their excellent after sales service).
Entirely agree about a dedicated spur...
Actually I think the Naim statement was in relation to power lines.
Apologies, meant PL rather than SL - role on a 'Super Lumina' even more expensive power cable!
I'm feeling fairly neutral on the subject of mains cables, but as people have pointed out there are positives and negatives in every cable.
For me though, it has to be Powerlines for the 'essential' kit (amplification, digital sources & vinyl) and Musicworks for the 'ancilliary' kit (tuners, tape players).
Oh, and an old Woolworths lead for the kettle.
