mains cable

what if any do you use with your naim equipment
"if any" ???? must try that next time I play S&G "The Sound of Silence"
I've started with Naim std cables, then experimented with a few well known 3rd party types & then Naim PowerLine. For the last 3 years I have my own Supra LoRad fitted with a mix of 13a plugs & IEC sockets - see profile - & I have no wish to change.
I tried my system with and without mains cable and found it sounded best with cable in place. I repeated the comparison after I had a dedicated radial supply installed.
The inky blackness was far superior though when the cable was removed
I'm a fan of TQ cables. I've got an Ultra blue on my CDX2 and a black on my SN. They're fantastic! ![]()
Mains cables are overrated.

I absolutely agree Finkfan, both superb cables, I'm very jealous ![]()
I use grey cables from the consumer unit to the sockets, then black ones from the plugs to the Naim equipment. They seem to work quite reliably and well.

Really? I find then rather useful... without one the kettle remains resolutely cold, and then tea just doesn't taste the same!
I found that when not using the mains cables there was no buzz from the tranformers...
One for you Ian, it's sort of about mains cables!!
A man has built three houses. Nearby there are gas water and electric plants. The man wishes to connect all three houses to each of the gas, water and electricity supplies.
Unfortunately the pipes and cables must not cross each other. How would you connect each of the 3 houses to each of the gas, water and electricity supplies?

Surely Mr Fish means they are overrated for current or voltage?
so TQs or Powerline?
Under £1k, Nordost Heimdhal 2 is the best.

If uing other Naim cables (interconnects, speaker cables) stick with PowerLines.
Which TQs then?
All Naim systems with all Naim wiring ( speaker cables, interconnects) .... TQ or Powerline? and which TQ? Talking about EU power cables, i don't know if it makes any difference....

I experimented with a number of different power cables (also in a full Naim system). All EU versions. PowerLine gave it the best balance.
So at the end of the day both of my systems are connected with PowerLines.
My current cable is a Hydra.

Carefully and professionally!
I had a powerline and it was definitely an upgrade over standard but replaced it with a TQ black power and never regretted it.
Finkfan has just taken over ownership of this cable as my new Vitus amp comes with its own Vitus andromeda cable otherwise the TQ black cable wouldn't have been going anywhere.
General rule...
TQ black for power amps
TQ blue for sources or black if you can justify it
i am currently using JPS Labs cables for pre/power/source, they all different cables, or thats what JPL claiming, i wonder it is going to be an upgrade worth the cost TQ or Powerline my nac272/txps/nap300

And what a cable the TQ black is Knipester! More detail, more 'air', tighter bass and it really works well with the Ultra blue on my cdp. Can't wait to finish work and have another listen!

Having followed HH for a while, I doubt that's what he meant CharlieP ![]()
