Posted by: best_jerry on 08 June 2016

As many members already upgraded system by these two years, so i would like to know the most update power bar that you are using for 252/552 level system, that will be a very good reference for me to upgrade the power bar.

Noted the run in time, as you know it is star wired design, is this okay to plug the gears as below:

IEC->300PS->Nil->Supercap->Nil->Xps2->Nil

As it's star-wired, by design it makes no difference what you plug where. But I'm sure someone will correct me in a second

I would like to go through the question is : is the star wired also have very little performance difference, for an example, the inside wire of plug 1 (which closest to the IEC) is shorter than plug 6, so can we assume that plug 1 is the best ?

I tried Wireworld Matrix 2 and Furutech eTP60.

Chose Furutech eTP60 for my 252/CSDR/250DR system. Wireworld was ok for a less revealing system.

how do you think that would work for me? N272/300DR/FOCAL SOPRA 2

I think the only way you can tell is by taking it appart and measuring the lenght of wires used .

At this level of amlification I would skip Matrix 2 as a little bit too simple.

Provided all other issues in your room acoustics have been sorted (as discussed in your other thread) you should be able to hear what the Furutech does and how neutral it is.

The only better option I can think of is having 6 sockets directly in a wall

I know Lavardin sales this power strip from Brennenstuhl a German mfg

I have been trying to find the furutech eTP60 Eu version online, but google has a hard time finding it.

I finally found an online seller, so can you describe what is better with the Furutech compared with the Wireworld.

The Furutech is definitely filtered, through a layer of crystals bonded to the bottom of the case on the inside - my dealer removed the filter for me.

The best way to describe it is: music is more effortless with Furutech.

And eTP60 is not filtered

I am referring to the GC303 crystals, black sugar-like substance bonded to the inside. Furutech doesn't call it as a filter but I found the audible impact to be like one.

There is also the E- TP609 E,  that albeit more expensive has rhodium plated sockets, probably a better match for Eu Powerlines fitted with Schuko plugs.

Snap !!!    Home made using four double unswitched MK sockets mounted on MDF.  L&N are tight twisted in a ring circuit, E is star.  The power block includes my own design DC blocker & its cable is Supra LoRad 2.5mm with an MS-HD Power silver (UK 13 amp plug)

Mike-B, can you provide details of your own designed DC blocker, as I think I need one! Did you look into any commercially available options before designing your own? Has it had any effect on the sound quality of your system?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry Russt,  its DIY & electricity & not permitted by forum rules.  Tell me why you think you need one & we can chat over e-mail.  I looked into a few commercial designs & .......  well lets just say I designed & built my own at a fraction of the price.   But before I go on this filter did not stop the traffo hum on my CDX2 simply because it was a naturally noisy transformer (big bummer) , however it did change the sound slightly & I don't know why. The most obvious was slightly better bass, not more or deeper but better detail & tone differentiation.

Thanks Mike it would be good to discuss.

With all these differences I am leaning towards having 4 or 5schuko sockets  in the wall instead of worrying about power bblocks! It will probaby also be cheaper!
