NAC 282 +Nap250 +Hicap wrong audio output position
Posted by: Yang on 13 June 2016
Hi Guys
I noticed there is a problem with my audio output position.
When I play Eagles's "Hell Freezes Over" both CD and Lp ,I noticed the lead guitar come from left position and the bass guitar at the right position. The same with others cd and Lp , all are reverse . I have checked all connections and its properly connected. What could be the problem.
Please advise!
Thank You and Best Regards
Yang
Could be a problem with the leads. Have you got alternatives to try?
Check your speaker cable connections at the back of the NAP250 - CH1 = Left channel, CH2 = Right channel. If your amp is between your speakers with the connections behind then the speaker cables should cross...
@Gavin Thanks for the suggestion !Do you mean the cable from Pre 282 to Hicap and Hicap to Nap250?
@RIchard ,Thanks for the reply , my friends and I have checked all the connections including the speakers, all confirmed to be alright. We were puzzled over this matter .
Yang, the reason I posted is because the speaker connectors are "back to front" to many people's view, so the natural thing is to connect the cable to the left speaker to the connector on the amp's left hand side - wrong. Viewing the amp head on (i.e. fascia at the front), the left speaker should be connected to the right hand sockets (labelled CH1) on the amp. It's a very common error, so wanted to double-check.

Thanks Richard , I have double checked the speakers connection , and you are right ,we make the same mistake . Problem solved !
If you have swapped around also just double check that you have the connectors phased correctly - i.e. positive to red negative to black.

Thanks for the reminder ! Very kind of you and your experience in Naim is really a great help to all the Naim lovers . Cheers !
I read Yang's original post to mean that the CD and LP were different (in which case neither the speaker cables nor the cables between pre-amp, power supply and power amp could be wrong as it would affect both sources in the same way).
Yang - can you clarify what you meant? Are the left and right switched between CD and LP?
Gavin, reading Yang's post, I read that it affects all sources. Anyway, it's moot because Yang has confirmed that the speaker cables were the wrong way around and that was the cause of the problem.
