XPS2 Fuse issue with a twist!

I purchased my XPS2 in May 2010 and it was DR upgraded in September 2014. From May 2010 until August last year no fuse would ever tolerate more than 3 or 4 power ups of the unit before failing. Last year I started to keep a log noting dates and reasons why the XPS was switched off and powered up again. Surprisingly since August last year the present fuse has now completed 12 power ups without failure including this morning when I stripped and cleaned the rack. Whilst I had access to the rear of the XPS I checked to confirm the fuse was of the correct rating of 2.5 amps, which it was.

 

So have I suddenly discovered a lucky fuse which is able to tolerate the power up current in-rush or has something changed, I am bemused? I can categorically confirm that no other fuse has been so kind to me in the past as is illustrated in my various posts related to XPS fuse failures on this forum.

 

Any comments?

Ken, it sounds like you have a fuse at the right end of the tolerance threshold.  Be happy...

This is what I thought as all components have a + / - tolerance on their operating range. As you say be happy and hope that this post does not become 'the kiss of death' for my 'lucky' fuse.

Have you tried turning it off and on again a few more times?

I've solved this problem by buying the fuses (of the correct specification) in bulk

I must have the only XPS not to blow fuses. It's regularly powered down (horror), is 8 years old and a few weeks ago a had a DR upgrade. Still not a fuse blown. Is this a record? Looking for a new 555PS but will it blow a fuse I wonder?

@Ravenswood10 - No, there are at least 2 of them. Mine is on its original fuse, although as the Spare is missing, it might be its 2nd one. 

Mine gets powered down quite often. YMMV.
