Superuniti or Uniti2

Posted by: MattL2009 on 13 June 2016

After being without a system for a while now, I am looking to buy a new system.  I have most of my music in digital form, so I don't need a cd played. To this end I was thinking about the Supernait.  However, I read somewhere this is designed for people who Have larger rooms and who want to play it louder. However, I have a relatively small room, three metres by four meters.  Would people recommend the Uniti2 or the Supernait in my circumstances. Thanks.

The Superuniti way, way outperforms the Uniti 2, brilliant 1 box solution, but limited upgrade ability - but then the clue's in the name!

Prefer to keep mine rather than go down the 272 path, and you can add a power amp if desired.

Best vfm upgrade has to be PowerLine, a real transformation you can hear straight away.

The Superuniti's amp does have plenty of clout if you want to play it loud, but I also find mine to be good at lower volumes, in a 4 x 5m room. Unless you really need a CD player, that's what I'd go for. (When you say Supernait, I assume you mean Superuniti!?)

Yes, I meant Superuniti. Tried to edit when I reread the post but was too late.

If you are looking to buy new, may I suggest your try an alternative? A second hand N272 and NAP 250 (HH will certainly approve ). And that's a recommendation from someone who's had his SuperUniti for more than 2 years.

The benefit of the solution I've just mentioned is that it can be boosted with an external PSU.

If, however, only one box is possible, SuperUniti is the best one there is! Especially as you dont' need a CD player.

SuperUniti is quite a bit better than the Uniti2.

ND5 XS + Nait XS 2 are similar overall sound quality to the SU, but there is a different balance to the sound and the former has upgrade potential that the latter doesn't.

The SU will be absolutely fine. When I bought mine I tried it against the Uniti2. The SU was a lot better and well worth the extra. It has a proper volume knob too, rather than little buttons, which makes it nicer to use. As others have said, a Powerline makes a nice improvement.

A different option to the powerline (like Supra for example) please? 800 euro for a power cable seem to much money for me. The HiFi market can offre many opportunities, even If this goes against the Naim's business.

Anto -

I tried many different cables. Power Line gave, to my ears, the best balance.

Other formum members report good expeirences with Tellurium Q Black (and upwards).

My dealer uses Ansuz power cord with good results. A little pricey but the X series is close to same price of power line.

You may confirm that Ansuz Power Cord offers better performance than the black Naim power cable that we find in the box!!

Hi Adam,

SU performance's out of the box are delicious for a all in one kit, you believe that the PL is a good investment for it , perhaps it would be more appropriate for more higher Naim's kit.

if I were sure to increase this wonderful machine I would spend more than 800 Euros but I'm afraid of wasting my money

I can't because I have not used one. I found a s/h power line for a great price. I think it has something to my U2 although I have not taken it off since I put it on 6-7 months ago.

SuperUniti. One of audio's genuine bargains.
