NAIM NAP 200 active anyone...?

hi there, munch (previously of this forum) used active 200s into SL2 in preference to 250. You can search the forum but as long as you have a decent preamp it should work very well. Naim speakers of the last generation love active

Hi,

I use a pair of Nap200  with a Nac552   with a snaxo 242  connected to a supercap activeting a pair of SL2's. Very happy with the results ( expecting to upgrade to a pair of Nap250 DR in the future ).

Even though the Nap 200 isn't  a regulated amp, I don't feel much is missing when implemented in an Active System. So it doesn't surprise me that you are enjoying your Active System, especially with an Top notch Front End, not to mention a nice rear end.

I'm headed in that direction, been full Blown Linn Active, in the process of leading to a Naim Active System.  However, I have experience Passive Bi-Amping with Naim with the 200 & 250.2.  The Task was not balanced, it was a three way system and the 250.2 had the duties of handling the Woofers & the Mids, done a fine job, but the load was to heavy and the 250 went into thermal protection mode. So I switched the duties, and put the 200 on the Woofers & Mids, no more heating problems, and the  difference was subtle to say the least.  However, I did prefer the former set up with the Regulated 250.2 handling the both drivers as opposed to the tweeters alone.

After that experience, I decided to switch over to Tri-Amping, exchanging the 200 for an 250.2 and acquiring a third 250.2.

Difference again was subtle, I would say a little more control, but next stop Snaxo 362, in the process of acquiring an SCDR this very moment!

Just thought I would share that with the Active Fans out there!

And personally, I would think the 200's is an excellent upgrade, which is two fold, Amp- wise & Speaker-wise.

Taking the crossover out of the equation, really improves the performance of Any Speakers and the non-regulated 200 duties are less demanding!

Out!
