Another DR Thread

In the US we have had to be very patient waiting for DR kits to arrive, but my 250 came back from AV Options yesterday, one of the first to be upgraded in the US. My 252 Supercap was done some time ago. This is just to say I couldn't be more pleased. If there's a single obvious and remarkable difference it is the improvement in instrumental timbre. Strings, woodwind, jazz piano and drums – everything feels more vividly close to true instrumental sound. With highly sensitive Devore speakers I have no reason to ascend the upgrade ladder further unless I were to upgrade both speakers and amp very substantially, and there's no imminent prospect of that. What I have is stunningly great. So this just to say that if you're in funds and are on the fence about upgrading your 250, just do it. The effect is wonderful.

It's very slow for DR upgrades in the UK too Wilko. Naim are hard at work trying to sort this out, but each DR upgrade is a pretty big job.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the change.

Frank.

Makes me even gladder(?) that I was able to pick up a gently used 250 dr (and at a very fair price) here in the U.S.. Still with a 202 and hcdr, but a huge improvement over my previous 200. Waiting for funds to replenish (dream on) before changing pre-amp, and watching for new models too, also perhaps a new cart for lp12.... and on and on and on

Mine has been out for the upgrade for 2 weeks now and being sans music is excruciating. I tried to buy a NAP100 to bridge the gap (since it may be gone longer than the 4 week window I was quoted) but my dealer talked me out of it saying to not waste money and make do with the AV system for music for a while.

I wish he hadn't now. I'm sure my 250dr will be great when it comes back but ...

My 250 is at AVOptions, and Chris West is finished with the DR upgrade - it is in the listening stage, and should be in my hands next week.  Fortunately, I have a UnitiQute, which has been doing power amp duties, so I am still enjoying my tunes.  How can we fault Naim for their extraordinary success with these extraordinary new products?  I am looking forward, of course, to enjoying my new DR amp soon.

I intend to get around to DRing my amp but I struggle to enthuse due to the current delay / waiting list

Solution:  Stand around and wait for the queue to shorten.

I've been doing that this afternoon at Wembley

Couldn't agree more. I had my 250 serviced and upgraded to DR in February. It offers a significant upgrade in performance. If anyone out there is in any doubt about the merits of the upgrade, don't be. It's worth every penny/cent.

Things are indeed starting to happen here in the USA with DR upgrades!

The first batch of 250 DR kits recently arrived at the US distributor (APS) from Naim UK
in early June,  and some of those were shipped to us. We are going through our list of booked 250 DR upgrades
as we get kits (in the order that deposits were taken).

We're expecting our first 300DR kits to arrive later this month, and we should know soon when the first 500DR kits will ship.

We expect to get through the backlog of DR upgrades by the end of August, and at that point we’ll be able to take
deposits for new DR bookings.

We appreciate the patience of all those who have been waiting for this highly anticipated Naim amplifier upgrade.

Thanks,

Chris
