Power supply age (maybe a stupid question)

Posted by: JF Lux on 19 June 2016

Apologies if this is basic  But still new to Naim...Do the power supplies "age" and need any type of servicing ? (I know amps do. And I also know there is the ability to bring some of power supplies to DR spec).

Thanks.

Yes, servicing should be done every 8-10 years on most Power supplies, although 500 series have been quoted at 15 years, so if in doubt, ask naim or your dealer for further guidance.

The only stupid question, is the one that isn't asked!

Mr Richard Dane, has answered your question, but my own personal guideline is:

Amps & PS's -  10 years (+ or -), 2 years depending on usage.

Pre Amp same formula, but 12 years vs 10 years.

However, the real test is your ears, if your system appears a little sluggish, less energetic, perhaps one or the other is due for servicing.
