From DAC V-1 to NAP & DAC V-1

Posted by: Janus on 24 June 2016

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has the experience moving from a DAC V-1 (pre and DAC) to a seperate Pre and use the V-1 as a DAC source. In my case I am considering upgrading the V-1 to a pre-owned NAC 202 - I already have a NAP 200 DR in place. My speakers are PMC Twenty .22's and sources are 100% digital: Mac Mini (USB), Sonos (Coax) and TV (Optical). Currently I am very happy with the quality - and I am waiting for a Sonore Microrendu which should improve sound quality even more through Roon. Just wondering if anyone has taken this step - a 282 is out of the question for now.

I have found the DAC-V1 to sound best with its fixed output. Even though I have no experience with the 202/200 pair my guess is that such a setup should delight you even more.

DAC V1 and Nap 100 is an awesome combination, and DAC V1 / NAP 200 is better for more demanding speakers.

I would not add another NAC. just enjoy it without a 202.

I already have my 202/200 when I bought DAC V1, but if I had the choice to go back in time, it would be DAC V1/Nap200 and no NAC 202.

I am connecting CDP-> DACV1 -> NAC202 + NAP200.  It sounds billion with a lot details output.

If you are playing 100% on digital sources, I guessed NACV1 as pre-amp with NAP100/NAP200 will be good combo  but If you are playing digital sources and analog sources (like turntable),  I guessed NAC202 will be option.

Thanks all. Analog music: I previously had a NAP 100, I find the NAP 200 (DR in my case) a huge step up - thanks for your input. Tham: I have a second setup for vinyl (integrated Nait2).
