Crosstalk Issue between NDX and Network Switch

Posted by: marcobb on 28 June 2016

Hi Folks,

I bought netgear network switch for my streaming system and it has the cable tester function, I tested and found the LAN cable between the NDX and switch has crosstalk result, I tried replace other cable, the result is same.

Anyone can let me know why has crosstalk and how to solve it ? Will it make the sound quality worst ?

Remark: NAS to Switch use the same cable is no crosstalk.

Regards,

I get the same result with a Netgear GS108Ev3 switch and a SuperUniti. Cabling is fine using good quality Telegärtner CAT6A cables.

Using the wired ethernet input still seems to sound better to me than using Wifi. The connection is also more stable than Wifi.

Crosstalk is present in ALL ethernet cables;  Its a measured factor with ethernet cable performance testing & one of the parameters in determining the cable category (CAT).     e.g. Cat5 has higher crosstalk than Cat6.

Will it make the sound quality worst ?  -------  NO - not unless its so bad (the cable is defective)

Remark: NAS to Switch use the same cable is no crosstalk.  ---------  Not possible, all ethernet has crosstalk  it means its not being measured.

Hi Mike-B,

But NAS to Switch use the same cable is no crosstalk result.

That is not possible,  ALL ethernet cables have crosstalk  - see my post -  it simply means its not being measured.              Unless you understand IT & ethernet engineering it's really best to not have this information,  but now you have it,  please please it is really nothing to be concerned about.
