DBL Innards

A friend of mine is looking to replace the disintegrating foam that lines the inner bass cabinet of his majestic DBLs.

Any advice, information and best of all a schematic would be greatly appreciated.

TIA.

Mark, your best bet would be to get in touch with Steve Hopkins at Naim. He should be able to advise on what you need.

Ah this brings me to ask about the disintegrating foam inside the top box of my SL2's. Richard, I thought I'd bring this up as nobody knows the SL's better than you and many pairs would by now have this problem.

The foam lines the inside of the top cabinet and flakes away if you touch it. Is this standard normal foam or is it something special or of a certain density.

Inside my NBL's have the same problem, the same foam is inside the top of the main cabinet around the nested box that holds the tweeter and mid. I have never removed the head but imagine it would be easy if one knows how to disconnect the  mid and treble bannana sockets from the back.

I would really like to get both speakers sorted in this area. I have DBL's too but have not seen inside the base cabinet.

Best,

Mario.

Hi mario, I would also advise you contact the factory. I haven't seen this on any SL2s yet, And my own pair seem ok for now. However, your post has prompted me to go and check when I get home from Crewe tonight...
