Hi,

Can any one tell me where to find the driver to update my unitiqute version to 4.4.

Andy.

Andy, take a look at the UQ product page on the Naim website where it says "support";

I've got the software version from there but I need to install the drivers to update the qute and I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Cat,

If you are looking for the USB to UART Bridge Virtual COM Port (VCP) drivers you can find them here:

This info should also be in the PDF file you downloaded with the software update.

Once you install them, you won't find any evidence that they are there.  You have to connect the UQ to your PC and you need as well to have an Internet connection to the UQ using Ethernet or wifi (preferably Ethernet). When you run the updater, your PC will load the drivers and you will find the port in the drop down list in the updater.

This is easier to do than to explain.  Ask us here if you can't make it work for you.

Thanks for that, eventually loaded version 4.4 to Unitiqute, took forever as I kept on getting comms failure messages up on the screen. Took about 40 attempts running the update until it loaded. There has to be a easier way of software updating...................Naim.

Were you using wifi for the Internet connection? It is recommended to use an Ethernet cable and normally you wouldn't see any connection errors.

Both Unitiqute and PC were connected via Ethernet.

Hi Cat1965,  I updated f/w so many times I've lost count with beta testing & never had a problem - dare I mention operator error    My system is all ethernet & I leave all that undisturbed & just plug the temporary ethernet from PC to router (or switch) & the USB/Mini-USB from PC to NDX,  click the start buttons & it's pretty well all automatic, it finds the COM & waits for you to touch that & then its just gets on with it.

I'll pile on and say that something was amiss and it wasn't the Naim software.  Like other beta testers, I've done this many many times and other than my one operator error (I ended it too soon) it's all been flawless.

(I even use wifi, not wired ethernet, but in my home it's been flawless. I don't recommend not following Naim's instructions to use a wired connection however.)

Like the others, I never had any problems with updating firmware. I presume the communication errors were soon after you start the updater software. You have to select the correct port in the dropdown list and the USB port doesn't show up until it's needed.  So you connect everything up, restart the UQ and then when it's finished restarting, you start the updater. It gives you the drop down list and you have to wait until that list shows the USB port.  I think maybe at that stage if you select the wrong port, you get a communication error (because the updater can't see the UQ yet). It must depend on the PC but my five year old Thinkpad with Windows 7 takes 10 secs or so to load the driver and put it into the dropdown list.

Anyway you got there eventually and you will find it easier next time you want to do it!
