Dead UnitiServes Society

Posted by: Adam Zielinski on 04 July 2016

I think I will start a 'Dead UnitServes Society'. Qualification criteria:

As a founding member I will set an entry bar high: 3rd failure within 1 year. The last one was 3 months ago and tonight - it never starterd after a holiday shutdown.

Adam

PS. Off to my dealer tomorrow - this time I will request a new unit.

Posted on: 04 October 2016 by nigelb

You know the thingies that will reimagine your possibilities or your make you music collection become infinite - something like that. Anyway the thingies are out on Thursday.

Long live Uniti Core

So I guess this is the end of the Society, just as I rose to the ranks of Faculty Dean. Typical!

Dean Nigel Sir. On the contrary - we now have a mission to support all the UnitiServe users, out there in the wildernes.

I intend to persevere with my UnitiServe SSD as long as it decides to live and it's fixable.

A spiritual successor to our beloved UnitiServe.

But ours is the original. The one and only.

Is it allowed to sneak in with a dead ns01, or do I have to create my own branch of the honorable society?

Yes, we must be as one, united in our support of those Userve users out there, in unity in our service to those with dead Userves. We could call ourselves UnitiServers.

Sorry, I'll get me coat.

Uniti Core Servers....

Surely the Unitiserve corps.

Posted on: 06 October 2016 by nigelb

Although I am encouraged by this belated show of support for our cause (or is it corps), and I do appreciate this show of unity (or is that uniti), as Faculty Dean, I will decide what we call ourselves.

Adam, I think this newly bestowed power you have afforded me, might have gone to my head!

As long as it has not affected your core Mr Dean, I think the faculty is in good and capable hands

Won't be long until the fold will start revolting against the old guard.

We should have a hierarchy as to how many times our US have had to go back to the dealer.

Me - twice in 3.5 years - both times the hdd had gone!!!

I 'went' through 4 in 2 years. As in - each time Naim exchanged each one, so I'm now my 4th new one.

4 years, no returns needed yet. (Not including the one that was fried by lightning, that would be unfair!)

What on earth do you do to them ? That seems a very high mortality rate

US no 1: loading mechanism jammed

US no 2: would not wake up after a holiday shut down. Blinking logo during start up

US no 3: kept switching itself off after around 7-10 days. Apparently a faulty logo button was the reason.

Not good Adam. That is a run of bad luck !
