North Sea Jazz Update
Posted by: Bert Schurink on 05 July 2016
I am really looking forward to the coming weekend, I will again attend the North Sea Jazz Festival in Rotterdam and I will have an ability to see the creme de la creme in jazz and soul.... I decided to create a dedicated post - so that only people who are interested can read it. I will publish pictures and concert impressions of all concerts I will attend.
The closing concert was Simply Red, while not bad, a lot of routine and also really clear that it was for them just another one. So I enjoyed myself as you can sing along, but it wasn't a peak experience....
So all in all as always a great festival, I think you don't find it better anywhere else in the world, so many acts in three days, such an excuisite program.....
was it the best one, no...., but I will again go next year. And I can recommend it to anybody on the forum who is halfway into jazz or even into soul.....
A very enjoyable thread, Bert. Thank you for your efforts. Jeff A
Also, for those who have Spotify Premium, there is a playlist: search "North Sea Jazz 2016". 111 songs, 9 hr 58 min in length and features many if not all of the artists that Bert has mentioned.

Didn't mean to imply it was "live" recordings from the festival, it is recorded tracks by artists that were featured at the festival. For me, and perhaps others, it is great because many of the artists, including some you mentioned, are unfamiliar to me. This gives me a chance to sample some of the artists you enjoyed.

No worries - realized you have been talking about the music of artist and not the live recordings. People living in the Netherlands will always have the ability to see 3 hours of coverage of the festival on television.
