It Shouldn't...But it Does - Chord Indigo Plus Digital

Posted by: GraemeH on 06 July 2016

Picked up one of these for a song (BNC-BNC) for an experiment between the NDX & NDAC:555PS. It has been in place a week now and all I can say is what a significant upgrade it is over the DC1. The slight hardness has gone with everything sounding more 'natural'...real, if you like. The music is presented more believably with subtle details and cues more evident...It almost feels like a box upgrade, it's that good.

If you can hunt one down (I paid £299) I'd say it is well worth a try.

I really didn't want to read that

Well done Graemeh! Where did you manage such a price - in Poland the RRP is close to £900

Hi Adam - I put a 'Wanted' ad out on another site and a kindly chap directed me to one on a second hand hifi site.

I see one on a well known auction site here (nothing to do with me) but it's a bit more expensive than I paid.

Knowing the qualities of the Indigo Plus now Adam, if you asked me 'would I pay what that one is advertised for?' I'd say a definite 'yes'...but that's me.

Interesting, Graeme.  Have had a browse on the Chord website and the closest I can find is the Chord Indigo Digital Tuned Aray cable.  Is that what you've just got?

No Mike it's the older 'Indigo Plus'.

Thanks, Graeme. You've got me thinking now. It's sometime since I paid any heed to the DCA1.  Given what Naim has done with the rest of their cable range it makes me wonder whether there's an Super Lumina digital interconnect in the pipeline.  I know from previous experience that even the digital interconnect can make a worthwhile difference. I used to use a fairly expensive Kimber digital cable before but the DCA1 still showed it a clean pair of heels.

I went down the same path Graeme. I much preferred the Indigo to the DC1. It seemed to let more light and colour in. HDX/DAC/555PS. I eventually ended up with AQ Eagle Eye and Indigo in rotation. The former was good for the last degree of detail, even if it hurt a little, the latter sounding naturally nice, relaxed and bouncy. I later auditioned Chord Sarum, which I didn't think was much good. When I eventually chopped in the DAC the Indigo and AQ went with it. Both worth every penny I paid for them.

Interesting Harry - Thanks.
