Premium Bonds

Posted by: staffy on 13 July 2016

I was thinking of buying a few thousand PBs, but I now see you cannot get them from the Post Office.  I am a bit wary of going online and just giving bank details to a faceless  person.

Has anyone had any bad dealings trying to buy bonds online or is it straight forward.

Thank you for any information advice on this subject.

I also agree with the comment by Innocent Bystander that Premium Bonds are ok if you treat them as a lottery investment, and not as a pure investment. The median rate of return for almost everyone's PBs is very much (appallingly) lower than the average return rate that you hear quoted. A horrifyingly few people achieve the 'average rate of return'.

As most people have stated, they are not a good investment at all.

However, I have to admit that this hasn't stopped me from buying quite a large amount myself. I also occasionally play the Lottery, and I suspect I have as much chance of making a significant amount of money there as from the PBs.

If you do decide to buy onlne, I agree that the NS&I website is perfectly safe.

Harry, first time I've dealt with them but a very nice company to deal with
they gave me good advice and were able to demonstrate the upgrade route
's adding XPS power supply to my NDX etc which led me to the system that I
eventually purchased.

I was very impressed by the level of time, advice and service given the
installation was also carried out in a very professional manner so pleased
with the organisation that I bought a Unitilite last week for a bedroom
system.
