I did a little research and found this on a forum, I can't verify it, but it sounds genuine.

She got....2 year suspended, 200 hours community service, 2 year ban and had to pay the victim £500 compensation

2 years suspended by her ankles in a public place would have been more appropriate I think.

Just out of interest, does anyone here have any idea what 'community service' involves?

Maybe I'm just cynical, but it migh just be turning up somewhere and getting your name ticked off a list as having 'done' whatever community service involves. Sounds harsh(ish) but in practice means nothing apart from a bit of inconvenience.

A friend of mine had to do 200 hours of unpaid work in a charity shop. He hated it, as the two old biddies that worked there didn't speak to him. Regular checks were carried out to make sure he attended and behaved as required. Tony
