Super Lumina.

Many months ago I posted a subject entitled 'Wow' moments. This was about up-grades in your system which made you say 'wow'!! I had many replies.
Well the time has come to repeat this post. I have replaced my Hi line between CDS3 and 555ps with a Super Lumina 5 pin to 5 pin interconnect. The result was-WOW!!!
Have you had a similar 'wow' moment with this up-grade?? Or any similar 'wow' that's great up-grades?
Tony.
I'd certainly say 'wow' if you've managed to connect it between a CDS3 and a 555PS....
I was delighted by the impact of SL speaker leads and the Din to XLR, and if you are pleased now, just wait till it's run in, which takes bloomin' ages.
I've recently tried a Chord Sig Aray in my stem and have to say immensely impressed. Wow - not sure but certainly very impressed.

Lindsay
Oh yes - replacing a 5/5 Super Lumina interconnect with a Chord Sarum Super ARAY interconnect between my CDS3 and my 552 ![]()
I had multiple wow moments alongside my upgrades. Ndac was a great upgrade on my CDX-2, into of my 552, 300 for 200, superlumina and Melco..... The most memorable for me was the NDAC perhaps because it was the first upgrade.

Me also. Recently the Chord Indigo Plus Digital too - a great pairing.

The biggest `wow' moment was replacing HiLine from my NDS to 252 with a SuperLumina DIN.
Monotone - yes, still amazed at what the SL IC has done for my system. Musically speaking one of the the most transformatory that I can remember. It will only get better. Enjoy.
When I opened this post I should have said that my CDS 3 was connected to my 52 pre-amp and not my power supply.
Apologies to HUNGRYHALIBUT.
Mostly my upgrades have been what I expected them to be so no 'wow!' (With the exception of one that was marginal and somewhat disappointing and poor VFM.) But when I heard the Chord Dave DAC recently that was a definite wow, so much so that my son who was with me actually said it aloud after just a few bars of music - however it is not in my system so doesn't count.
The biggest wows at home were turning on my first (homemade) hifi system 46 or 47 years ago (far better than anything I had heard before, in the days of Dansettes and radiograms), followed by my upgrade to IMF TLS50 speakers in mid 1970s.
Wow moments are when something you think won't make much difference to the sound really surprises. Putting my Castle speakers (can't remember their name now) on proper stands was one. The Chord Sarum Tuned Aray phono to DIN did it. The Melco was another.
My Quadraspire SVT racks with bronze spikes under the LP12 & 52 gave me a wow moment as I've been sceptical about expensive racks in the past

Yeh tonym, I see what you mean, activating your DBLs, was no surprise!
In that vein, I would haft to say, upgrading from Sound Factory Tripod Racks, to Fraim lite. I made the upgrade, because Fraim offers the ability to add racks. Going active, requires plenty of racks, didn't expect a black box effect, but wow!

2 wow moments here. Replacing my hifi rack reasonable good quality rack, with Fraim. I had expected the Fraim to go back very soon after hearing a few tracks. Even with a big discount on the Fraim I thought at the time that paying so much money for a rack was a waste of money! After playing a few tracks it was clear that the Fraim had to stay.
For many years I used Audiovectors own active filter for different s6 models. In 2010 I think Audiovector got Naim to make Snaxo for all s3 and s6 models. Changing filter was also a massive upgrade and not that expensive compared to other box upgrades!!

Expensive specialist cabling really does seem to work and should be factored into the cost of a high-resolution system, together with an effective support system and optimised mains supply.
A Super Lumina full-loom has had a delightfully transformative effect upon my system in a 'more music - less Hi-Fi' manner.
John.
I said WOW, seeing how much discount were offered on Lumina just weeks ago![]()
Yes the SL IC was quite a shock (and fine value) and sure the CDS3 I previously owned was amazing when it arrived but for me the biggest and most surprising upgrade for the money was switching from HiCap to Supercap on my SNAXO some time back. It was genuinely revelatory, like throwing the door to the music wide open. I'd thought it would be an upgade, but not that big a leap.
just about to make the SNAXO cable an SL one, I have high hopes for that too

Wow!
More Active Members, than one would think!
Nice System Bruce!
Enjoy your Music, the Why!

I am reliably informed that the Naim Superlumina 4-5 pin DIN is dead and will not be produced.
So for people, like myself, who use a Superline what other, non-Naim, 4-5 pin DIN interconnects do you use or have tried?

On the sidelines soaking up information!
Asking for understanding of the Loom:
1st- SL IC- 5 pin din/5 pin - Source to Pre
2nd- SL IC- 4 pin din/Burndy-PS to Snaxo**
3rd- SL IC - 4 pin din/Xlr- PS to Amp
4th- SL Speaker Cable- Amp to Speakers
5th- Speakers to Ears
** completes the Full Loom for Active users.
Am I on point?
Thanks in Advance.

The first wow moment while using Naim would be when I swapped the 150X for a 200. Based on what I had read, I really wasn't expecting any change. I was almost shocked at how much difference there actually was.
More recently was wowed when I added a HiCAP DR to my bare 282 (listened to it bare for a couple weeks on purpose to see what the HiCAP DR brings to the table), then again when I swapped my 200 for a 250DR.
3 big "wow" moments
- Ovator
- 252 was the biggest for me coming from 202
- NDS
Wow moments ? Every time I listen to...
... the Graham Audio LS5/9 speakers,
... the Resonessence Mirus DAC, now upgraded to the Pro version.
